High caliber rounds / explosive payload = still getting sniped anyway according to Bungie.
Every time I'm sniped through flinch, I just want to close the game.
-
It really is a social construct. I almost exclusively snipe. Load of kills. High caliber rounds and explosive payload is a nightmare. I can counter snipe them maybe 2 out of 10-15 times unless I shot first. Same goes for autos, such a pain to counter. But even with flinch with enough time you just get used to the way the gun bounces and you can correct it. Takes time and practice. Definitely not an issue.

Well there was this exotic piece of armor which helped fight against sniper lane camping. It worked well, so everyone cried about it. Before that, flinch actually worked and people cried about it. It's a vicious cycle.

21 RepliesI don’t understand how people are still surprised by being sniped. First, snipers do get flinched, try sniping I assure you you will feel the flinch. But those who snipe regularly, are accustomed to taking the shot while having a feel for the flinch that they are taking. But it’s the flinch mechanic in destiny that’s the problem, taking flinch actually flinches toward where you are being shot from. Which is just ass backwards. Now, realistically no matter what weapon you are using, you expect to be able to hit your shots even while taking fire, just like everyone else. De-scoping isn’t a fix either, with keeping game mechanics consistent across all scenarios, could you imagine trying to snipe during damage phases?
-
The only reason you should be peaking sniper alleys is because your also sniping. I snipe a lot and believe me flinch works and I’m not good at getting headshots when high caliber rounds are hitting me. Some players are good at pulling the scope back down in between hits and they somehow get the kill. Like I said I can maybe do it 1 out. Just avoid snipe lanes, rush around and hit him from the side. Snipers that run to the same spot and camp the whole game deserve to get rushed and killed.

At this point I've learned if I see a red light I don't even challenge even though I've got a summoner with high caliber rounds it doesn't matter.

2 RepliesThe problem is the second flinch puts the reticle back on the persons face
-
4 RepliesSniper flinch is broken in that unlike other weapon flinches that go up and to the sides, sniper flinch just goes up meaning that head shot was originally a body shot
-
25 RepliesIf sniping is easy mode and flinch only helps, why doesnt everyone just snipe?

1 ReplyD1 had snipers right (or at least high caliber rounds done right). At one points, snipers where dominating. The best counter was using MIDA which had the hidden perk of high caliber rounds. Then Bungie nerfed sniper flinch, damage, and scope zoom as well as removing hi cal rounds from MIDA. Asking Bungie to fix anything is dangerous for the game. Things that are fine end up being too good (currently 600rpm autos) or nerfed to uselessness (currently 180 hand cannons). Bungie never gets it right.

9 RepliesThis could apply across so many weapons, not just sniping. I often complain that enhanced unflinching for snipers does absolutely nothing. With people spamming autos it’s super easy to get flinched, it’s learning how to recover and hit the shot. I do like the people think it doesn’t take any skill tho, but somehow other weapons do? How about getting mapped by fusions ? How about mountaintop essentially being a sniper? Auto tracking insta kills from jotun People spamming auto rifles with range equivalent to a scout? But snipers are the problem, gotcha

5 RepliesIf you don't wanna get sniped then don't challenge a sniper with an auto rifle. Stay out of lanes

28 RepliesFor the 1000th time snipers are not broke. Flinch is broke. It does the same thing for all guns. Shooting someone while they are aiming flinches your aim towards the head for some stupid reason. Fix flinch the sniper problem would go away. If they can anyway.

Edited by WormChi: 9/9/2020 12:33:26 PMSnipers still require more skill then every other special in the game. Being able to play aggressive with a sniper takes lots of practice instead of sitting in the back of the map. Precision weapons should award the best result if you can get good with them. We see what happened by the fall of Handcannons now everyone just sprays no aim autos. At least hand cannons took time to line up your shot. If you nerf snipers you will have the same problem - fusions or shotties and even things like Arbalest and Bastion will be everywhere. The game would become more than unplayable.

18 RepliesSniper rifles need a total rework. Run & gun-jump shot-snapshot-no flinch-aim assist-quick swap is freagin silly. I’m watching streamers and youtubers use their sniper like shotguns sometimes. There should be some investment involved when using a long range one shot kill weapon. Ah well it’s a space magic game that’s putting more creative focus on its micro transactions versus gameplay tuning...

It's how the calculate flinch that's broken. But I've given up on snipers until they fix it.

If you don't wanna get sniped then don't challenge a sniper with an auto rifle. Stay out of lanes

10 Replies2 things are completely busted in pvp right now imo... 1) how flinch works 2) too much special ammo Fix these 2 things and the crucible will be a better place.
-
I feel like flinch does need reworked, but not removed. if there was no flinch sniping would be ridiculously easy. It'd be impossible to counter. As long as you got scoped down a lane first, you'd be basically guaranteed to win. if they made it to where you could counter flinch sort of like you counter recoil on other guns, then itd be a high skill way to play instead of RNG.
-
I think if you lose half of your health while scoped in you should get de-scoped.

13 RepliesEdited by Jericho_Wolf99: 9/8/2020 2:42:41 PMDon’t know how hard it is for them to place them back into the heavy slot with shotgun and fusion rifles and add extra ammo to the reserves and more heavy ammo drops in for pve gameplay. Back to high risk high reward with heavy ammo.
-
Stay out of sniper lanes? I played against one guy who was an exception to that. He hip fired everything including his sniper. Landed body shots mostly then switched over to the last word.

I don't know how this literal garbage mechanic even got implemented

It's kinda bull crap

14 RepliesEdited by Kiro - 13: 9/8/2020 7:02:39 AMRemoving aim assist from all snipers would fix this problem. and not effect pve in any ways. And their is a good argument for removing it from snipers. Now most knowledgeable players will tell you controllers need aim assist values & remind you that the system was put in place solely because it would make the game near unplayable via recoil.GREAT AND EXCELLENT POINT! But not for snipers. Snipers are designed to be precision weapons you are not firing at full auto or spaming blindly as fast as one can. It makes sense for autos, hc, scouts, machine guns, ect. Aim assist is needed for consoles and controllers users on PC. But it has no place being on sniper rifles on either platform. NONE But I am fully aware that this suggestion will be unpopular because it would mean a skill based change.

*Flinch on ALL weapons.
