Both restart player progression. Both disregard the time people invested into getting desired loot. Mark Noseworthy stated in the stream that they no longer want to develop D3 because people worked hard to earn gear in D2 like they did in D1. Well sunsetting contradicts this narrative. I still don't understand why it's happening. But enough is enough.

11 RepliesIt definitely is different. What they are doing, is erasing Destiny 2 from existence. This approach, is EASILY, the dumbest move that a developer has EVER made. Let's take the ONLY game we currently support, and delete 80% of the content so that we can sell people an expansion that will replace 25% with Destiny 1 content, and another 25% of new content. Then over the next 12 months, people can revisit other locations that might not be completely destroyed. Also, we are going to take away the last 3 years worth of weapons and armor, so that people can get them again, as UNIQUE items, that are viable. The whole concept of Light Level, is stupid. Leveling up, so that your weapon does more damage? Okay, maybe if you are swinging a melee weapon it could make sense... how does it work with guns? Do you pull the trigger harder or something? The reason we NEED Destiny 3, and not this garbage excuse of an expansion, is to remedy the whole "POWER CREEP" Situation. Obvious fix, is to create an environment, where light level DOES NOT dictate your gun's output. A little bit of grounded reality... goes a long way when you want to weave a story based around this planet, which everyone playing this game, actually lives on. I personally want to be able to hunt deer with a water pistol... guess I need to finish some more bounties.
