How do Guardian's get their Subclasses in terms of lore?
I'm genuinely curious if anyone can answer me this question i will be very glad. In game its easy you just chose whichever subclass you want to play as. However, I don't understand how it works within lore. Is it randomly allocated? Do the guardians select their subclass in a dream before they are brought back to life by their ghost? Is it based on the guardian's personality? Or is it to do with the ghost itself?

Guardians powers come from the Light. Basically the Light is mimicking actual solar, arc, and void energies. Each subclass is based around different personalities. While Guardians can use multiple subclasses (and even obtain new ones from an outside source), they almost always tend to favor the one that best fits their personality. Zavala for example favors Sentinel, but has also been seen using Striker.
