♤ Lightborne 11 - Black and Blue

The night wind seems to die down with the end of the ambush as the group heads for Failsafe. Smoke rises from the ashes of the destroyed tanks and corpses of Fallen as the first birds begin their morning routine. Icarus reloads his hand cannon with a flourish, clicking the chamber with a satisfied grin. "That was unexpected. Good work team." Indigo hops down from a Walker cannon that is sticking straight out of the ground. "Show some emotion for once, huh?" She sarcastically walks past him with a full smile, cleaning her blades as she goes. Meanwhile, back at the Walkers remains, Kairos tampers with odds and ends, broken and scorched mechanical pieces of Fallen debris. He filters out what is usable and chucks everything else out over his shoulder. "Penny, can you scan this piece and tell me how much it would go for?" He holds up a relatively intact metal box with three flashing green lights on the top. Penny scans it and looks him in his eyes. "Given your current wealth, the condition of these pieces, and the demand for these items..." she expands slightly with a small glow, "you'd be better off selling your still burning ships engine core." Kairos groans and drops the box. "Look, I'm not going for the money, I'm trying to increase my reputation with the merchants of the city and the tower so that when I do find something great they won't be able to refuse!" He rolls his eyes as if she was supposed to already know his scheme. Indigo and Icarus head inside the broken remains of the Exodus Black. As soon as they step foot in the massive wreckage, small blue lights begin to softly light the way as a friendly voice greats them. "Good morning, Captain! Did you kill all those dirty creatures for me?" Failsafe shifts her mood as she says 'creatures' with a strange tone of disgust. Computer sounds fill the room as they approach her central console. Indigo sits down on one of the decommissioned panels and begins cleaning her boots. Icarus approaches Failsafe and plugs a device into the center panel. Every light in the chamber flickers and Failsafe's voice changes rapidly through her personalities. "Captain? What are you doing? That feels... Uncomfortable." She seems confused. Icarus chuckles, "Remember that story I told you about that Titan who used an AI instead of a Ghost?" The lights fade back to normal and Failsafe's voice calms down. "You mean John? Of course! He was like, totally awesome." Failsafe replies excitedly. "Well," Icarus says softly while unplugging the device, "how would you like to be my AI?" He looks up with gleaming eyes toward the display panel that houses her internal memory. Failsafe blinks with glee. "Is that even possibly?" She asks before immediately running the math for herself. She hesitates, "It is!" Icarus takes the device and inserts it into the back of his helmet, then presses a latch at the bottom that flattens the device into the helmet seamlessly. "Give a shot." Failsafe activates her new subroutine in his helmet as a small blue light on the right side of the faceplate displays a holoprojected body in front of him. "Captain!" Failsafe struggles to comprehend. "I.. I.. have a... a body?" She moves her projection strangely, and inhumanely. "Sort of, yeah. I uploaded a copy of your memory to my own files in case anything where to happen to the Exodus Black while I'm not looking. Also, it's a handy library to have on hand at the press of a button." He presses a button on his wrist guard that pulls up a HUD of information stored within the Exodus Black files. "Which leads me to..." he goes to the Failsafe computer panel and types in lines of data that match his searches. A yellow light flashes on a case in the storage bay in the room over. The HUD goes down and Icarus grabs the cache. Failsafe attempts to dance in her new blue holo-body. She reaches out to grab the cache from Icarus, but her hand fades through it. "I can't feel anything.." she says disgruntled. Icarus flicks the switch on his visor that turns off her projection. "It's not a real body, Failsafe. But, you should feel more free in here than the lonely burning wreckage you were trapped in!" He taps on his helmet. Her voice now comes from within the helmet and only Icarus can hear her, "Where will we go?" Icarus returns to the other room where Indigo is waiting. "Did you find it?" Indigo asks. He replies to both of them, not with words, but by opening the box. Inside lays the fourth and final key to the mysterious box he has been carrying around with him. He takes it out of the cache and inserts it into the box with a clean and satisfying, *click!*
