PlayStation forums closing down

It looks to be the end of an era when it comes to forums. The PS forums will be shutting down on the 26th. This makes me wonder if Bungie's forums are next. Not that I actually care for #offtopic. Regardless, prepare for a potential influx of PlayStation Forums refugees here in these forums.
This makes me wonder if Bungie's forums are next.
It wouldn't surprise me if this did happen. I was heartbroken when Bioware shut down their forums since they were my main forums to post on ( and that's the main reason why I use the Bungie.net forums ). Bioware apparently thought that they no longer needed a forum since Facebook, Twitter, and Reddit now exist. It should be noted however that ever since Bioware killed their forums ( and now no longer has a place where they have direct communication with their fans ), everything that they've released has flopped.

    • As long as Bungie is producing games, B.net and it’s forums will stay alive. Once Bungie stops producing games though, it’s gone.

    • Terrible click bait article. No, Internet forums are not dying... More people have a reddit account and it’s probably easier to just use those for info for developers. You don’t need to make another account and the potential user base is a lot higher from the start and Sony doesn’t need to pay anything to keep the forums going. The same goes for twitter. Loads of people already have a Twitter account and you get in touch directly to Sony faster. Big companies also use chat on their support sites a lot more, so even less reasons to have their own forums. Stuff shuts down because of inactivity. It doesn’t make any sense to keep something online if it’s rarely used, but it also makes no sense to shut something down if it’s used a lot.
