Where is the Renewed Focus?

Iron Banner and PvP are in terrible states right now. Mismatches, bad matchmaking, lag, little to no new rewards, no targetable rewards, and complete cheese across the board. Weapons and gear are in the game that have low entry level skill requirements AND a low skill gap. OEM, Erentil, LoW (PC), etc. Sanbox has been virtually unchaged. And the loot. The loot. Not only is virtually none of it new, but Bungie seems to have this idea that we continue play to HUNT God rolls. That's false. We continue to play because the God rolls we actually get keep up playing. The hunt is only part of the grind. I've personally turned in over 11K tokens and haven't gotten a single decent Gunnorah's. How is that supposed to keep me playing? I could go on, but to keep it short I'll add a link to another post. Link to relevant post here:
Don't Think I'm Doing Iron Banner Anymore - 11,300 Tokens and Nothing https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/254800767/0/0 Yeah. It just isn't worth it. I want a single gun from the loot pool, and I'm forced to do a quest in order to turn in tokens. That quest also forces me to pollute my loot pool with armor that isn't even new. On top of that, the quest dictates how people play, making for some boring, artificial matches. Especially when 4 of your teammates are crouching by heavy so they can get their quest done. I have turned in 565 IB packages (11,300 tokens), and haven't even gotten a single Gunnorah's with a decent roll. We have the same old armor and the same old weapons. Nothing worth chasing. The one gun I want isn't worth it. And then we get to a sandbox that's filled with cheese: Erentil with backup plan. High impact fusions getting 40 meter kills. (Does backing up even work as a counter anymore? Seriously. And at 40 meters, pulses and HCs now suffer damage dropoff, so their TTK can't keep up with the charge time. A scout can't at all, so that's fun.) Hand cannons with a further 3 tap potential than most but with zero recoil. Shotguns that have all the benefits of an aggressive frame, but have twice the handling and a faster rate of fire. OEM tracking. All that needs to be said there. Snipers with so much aim assist they shoot through flinch. (Snipers weren't even remotely used until serious outliers in terms of aim assist were used. Fact. Don't even argue it.) Clarification here: That AA + incoming flinch dragging reticles to the opponent's head without any input from the user is the bigger issue for me. Snipers aren't OP at all. I just wish flinch didn't do any work for them. Lag in literally every lobby. Complete mismatches and mercy rules. Terrible spawns, even on the maps that were supposed to be "fixed." The spawn trap at A is just as bad as before and Citadel is still a mess. Etc. It seems like for every way Bungie could have widened the skill gap with special weapons, they introduced an option that pretty much doesn't have one. Or they take the skill out of 1v1s with OEM. The cheese so bad I don't even care what the scoreboard looks like anymore. I'm just there for bounties and that's it. And let's be real. I'm not the only one. And it has been this way for months. Is any of this really indicative of the "renewed focus" for PvP we were promised? I think not. Edit: I'm not calling for any nerfs. I'm just saying the sandbox is full of weapons/gear that are the easiest and most effective option for their type. It is of my opinion that the easiest options shouldn't be the most effective as well. Granted, that'll never happen, but one can hope.
How is any if this indicative of any "renewed focus" of any kind? And that's just the PvP side of things, but PvE has gotten little to no improvements at all. Destiny NEEDS so many things. There's no incentive for sherpas, no in-game LFG system in the director (like every MMO ever), a lot of loot that isn't targetable, flooded perk pools on weapons that increase the HUNT for God rolls and never end them (Again, we play because the God rolls we actually get keep us playing), no updated vendors, and so many more problems. It seems there's more focus on Eververse than anything else in the game, even though a lot of those items/ornaments could be tied to PvP and PvE triumphs instead. To keep it short, I'll post a link to another post. Link to relevant post here:
Destiny is in Need of a Quality of Life Update https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/254891740/0/0 Repost from an original that got a lot of attention, but it died over the break. I'd like to see if this post can get some attention while everyone is back. 1-10 are especially important to me and several of my friends actually. These are honest improvements that I think could contribute the the replayability of the game. Other top items I'd like to see that currently aren't on this list are: 23. Raid encounters should drop 1 armor piece and one weapon guaranteed. 24. Everyone in the raid should get an additional, drop at each encounter for each member in the fireteam that hasn't completed that raid. Players should be able to select weapon or armor for this drop. These two items go hand-in-hand with item 10. This game is about bringing guardians together, so let's do it. Original post here and pasted below: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/254851170/0/0 Top things I'd personally like to see: 1. All the Warlock glitches/bugs fixed. There are a lot. 2. Warlock melee speed addressed. 3. Farmable, weapon specific Gambit Prime Bounties. 4. Make all universal ornaments available for all Armor 2.0 pieces. 5. Ascendant Shards and Prisms from Valor and Infamy max ranks and resets. 6. More pinnacle drop sources (Maybe a weekly featured raid that rotates? Pinnacles from all dungeons.) 7. Vendor updates. 8. Better protection from duplicate pinnacle drops. 9. Reset on world drops. If we add more weapons to the loot pool, some need to go. Maybe tie tangled web armor and some of the other armor sets to a Spider destination engram. 10. An in-game LFG system. No app. Your casual player isn't going to go the the app every time he wants to try something new. 11. Number of crucible tokens gained after a match increased significantly. In fact, more rewards and incentive for PvP in general. 12. Choice between a weapon and a piece of armor from vendor rank up. The list probably goes on. Those 12 are just the top items that would affect the replayability of both PvE and PvP. Edit (Notable additions from replies. There are more below. I don't want to add every single one. Post will get too long.): 13. Bounties from orbit 14. Y1 Nightfall weapons brought up to year 2 with random rolls. Get rid of the 3 nightfall playlist and just add all weapons to strikes as strike specific loot. 15. Console performance improvements. 16. Black screens in PvP. 17. More sources for Eververse loot. Either make more sources for bright dust, or tie the loot to triumphs or activities. 18. More vault and inventory space. 19. More sensitivity options for controllers. 20. Ability to set quantity when deleting items. 21. Advanced tooltips for weapon and armor stats and similar things that give us accurate numbers of how much dmg increase one stack of rampage is for example. 22. Optional "apply to all items" button when previewing a shader. 25. (23 and 24 above) Raid clan engram should give raid rewards from the first raid you completed that week. If no raid was completed, it gives Vanguard gear.
Back to the God rolls thing, how many people hunt for them? Thousands. Probably tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands. And what are they hunting for? Spare Rations? Gunnorah's? A sniper? A fusion? Anything? And are they going to want to keep playing if they've completed hundreds of Reckoning runs, turned in thousands of IB tokens, and done so many more activities just to walk away with not even a single decent roll? No absolutely not. They're going to want to keep playing when they get good rolls and make PvP and PvE builds around them. THAT is the enjoyment of a looter shooter. Hunting loot, getting loot, using loot, and back to hunting. That's the cycle. So far is seems Destiny has forgotten how to give good loot. I honestly want to enjoy this game each and every single time a play it, regardless of the game mode, but I can't. I really want to. Most of my gaming memories are tied to Destiny, and it honestly hurts to see the game in such a sorry state. We NEED the renewed focus more than ever, and we need it across the board; not just in PvP.
