As the drops are RNG with no duplicate protection, this can unfortunately happen. It can be the same item each time, or a different item each time or any combination in between.

  • True, but never have I ever had something like this happen in all my time playing destiny 1 or 2 that man times. 2-3 sure but 7 no. I mean statistically speaking if there was 8 possible items that could be dropped from the completion chest, that's statistically speaking a 4.76837158e-7. If I remember my stats correctly the odds are 2,097,151 to 1. The 2,097,151 being the total other possible combinations I could have gotten. Suffice it to say, this should be sent in to be looked into, because it is highly likely that it is in some way a result of some bug.

  • RNG is random, you cannot base it on statistics. It would then be statistical bias and not random. RNG means that each item has an equal chance of dropping each time. This also means that the same item can drop each time.

😂😂😂Can't base RNG on statistics... LMFAO!!! Dude RNG is part of statics. Old days and partially still is a Random Number Generator (RNG) from x variables with x% chance of dropping to get x reward. Now and days it's not necessarily numbers anymore but the same system. You have X items (some with higher chances of dropping than others) and you're odds are based from there. That is statistics IE statistical probability. The only reason why my numbers might be off is either because there's not 8 items which is possible or if the items don't all have the same chance of dropping which could be possible but I find unlikely in this specific case. But even if they were the odds of dropping the same item 7 times is low.

  • I'd like to quote one of my favorite answers to another RNG post:
If there were any statistical probability it wouldn’t be random. Trying to rationalise random gives 2 scenarios: 1. All items have the same chance of dropping. This is a fixed probability - not random. 2. Some items have more chance of dropping than others. This is statistical bias - not random.
(source)

  • I'll just blow that out of the water here. To say that something can't be random if there is statistical probability is ignorance. In statistical and probability (Which are actually two very similar but distinctly different things are commonly used together and are taught together because of how similar they actually are.) there is literally a variable that is called the random variable. I can tell you the probability what I can get in flipping a coin, which is a 50/50 chance that I get heads or tails. But that doesn't make it any less random in which I can get nor does that mean that I will statistically get a 50/50 split of the two if I flipped it multiple times. Regardless the probability is still 50/50. I could added weight to one side and that would change the probability of from 50/50 but statistically speaking it's possible to get both and it's still going to be random which I get just more likely that I get the weighted side.

  • Even with the 50/50 chance, you can still get heads 7 times in a row. Does not change the fact that the in-game drops can also be the same item, every time.

  • I didn't say it wasn't possible. I have in fact never said that it was. I said that never in my time playing the destiny franchise have I had something like that happen and that statistically speaking extremely low. You then proceeded to try and claim that I can not base it on statics, thus leading us to this point. Is it possible that this could have happened, yes. But the odds of it actually happening due to some bug is larger than that chance and thus my statement is still 100% valid.
