PvP mains feel neglected in terms of endgame and replayability.

Its a common topic in my circles, and comes up almost every time i play. "What is there to do for a PvP main?" Is the question ringing in our heads. PvP feels hollow now, and i would like to lay out a few reasons and discuss them as calmly and professionally as i can. Survival/Comp/Glory: The change to 3v3 survival only was greatly appreciated, it feels much better than 4v4 with rotating gametypes. That said the change to the glory system, although well recieved, resulted in the reduction of replayability/endgame in PvP. For the dedicated PvP player, this change killed comp. It makes things like Unbroken title, Not Forgotten, Mida Catalyst, and other comp rewards feel less rewarding. Gaining glory rank is no doubt easier than it ever has been, and it feels equivalent to taking the ordeal nightfall, and reducing its difficulty to that of a playlist strike. While this was a good change for those who struggled too much before, it is a poor change for those who enjoyed the challenge and results in most hitting legend and then never really wanting to play competitive again. Progression: PvP progression is in a hard to describe state. In terms of season pass ranks and general XP gains, PvP is good. But for endgame progression PvP is abysmal. In pvp we have a monthly event that gives us access to high power drops and good stat rolls. That once a month event pales in comparison to what the PvE community has access to (understandable considering the more PvE oriented nature of the game), but as a PvP main I have NO way to masterwork armor. None. Not by playing 5500 glory comp, not by living in iron banner for a week. No amount of PvP results in ascendant shards. Enhancement prisms and enhancement cores are extremely rare in PvP. I would wager that a gaurdian who spends 50hrs in PvE this season will have a higher power level, higher average stat roll and much more masterworked gear than if the same gaurdian spent 200hrs in PvP instead. Pinnacle/Ritual Weapons: I understand the removal of the pinnacle weapon system for the sake of balance, and i appreciate the merits of the ritual weapon system. Overall i think it was a solid change. That said, it compounds the "lack of endgame" issue that dedicated pvp players face. As mentioned before, all of our prior achievements feel like they are less noteworthy now that glory ranks are incredibly easy to gain. We really miss trials:: Cant really write a paragraph on this, but trials was once the backbone of pvp. I remember waking up every friday morning during D1 and the first thing i would do was check what the trials map was. Even as a weekly event, trials brought more excitement than iron banner. The unique cosmetics, the unique tournament style trials cards. Everything about trials in D1 was great. The greatest aspect of trials was the multitude of reward tiers. Depending on your skill level you could be trying for armor at 5 wins, weapons at 7 wins, Adept weapons/armor for a flawless ticket, or scarab emblem beyond flawless. This gave people something to chase, no matter their skill level. With the competitive playlist, we have rewards at 2100 and two rewards at 5450 rank. Once someone hits 5450 once, they have little to no incentive to re enter the competitive playlist but worse than that, there is no incentive to grind past 2100 if you dont think you can get to 5450. That is a 3350 pt stretch with NO rewards. Trials of osiris gave rewards at shorter increments which incentivized players to improve. Week by week they could track their improvement by how far into their trials card they got, and the random rolled, random drop nature of D1 trials gave it replayability. I remember after having all of the adept weapons, and my scarab emblem, still playing trials trying to get the glass promontory roll i wanted. This is something that Trials of the nine failed to capture. And competitive also fails to capture. POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS: This is purely my opinion and i would love for the comments section to talk it out, but I think the following could help the endgame issues: -Bring back trials with a more D1 style reward system. We have random rolls now, and partially fixed roll trials weapons were a huge hit in D1. Fixed rolls are less fun, because you get it once and never need to grind for it again. -Give us a way to earn Enhancement Prisms and Ascendant shards in PvP, potentially through valor resets. But also potentially through the survival playlist, with an increasing drop rate at higher ranks? -Add cosmetic rewards to the survival playlist? Skins/Shaders/Emblems. With some difficulty to earn. -Increase the base stat roll for gear dropped in the survival playlist, higher rank = higher base stat rolls?

 • I'm not a PvP player, but would love to see some PvP modes improved on or brought back. Although my concern is that after the move from Battle.net to Steam, the amount of cheaters in PvP has risen substantially. It would be disappointing to see Trials come back only to be ruined be individuals with a lack of competitive honor. As much as I'd love to see PvP players happy, I think there needs to be more work on getting the hackers and cheaters out of the system first.
