Recluse is the carrot they dangle so people play comp.
Once most people have it or people give up trying to get it and comp numbers go down they'll nerf recluse and introduce another op weapon in its place and the cycle continues.
Of course this is not fact only my opinion based upon the cycle i've been seeing.

IDK, i feel like there was too much recluse last week in IB. While I don't disagree with what you're saying, I guess it's just a matter of time before it is ruled obsolete. That may actually be the case with the PvE meta in general after this season. It's all hand cannons, and SMGs (because good autos don't exist much). It makes you wonder what they're planning to nerf just to push what weapons they want us to use next. I don't think diminishing one thing to boost another is the right system. It weakens the diversity in the weapons pool. Like what's the point of having 300+ weapons and only 12 are effective??? Something tells me that it'll be scouts next season though....

After seeing the rotation for years now, I'd say it's fact. That is precisely the Bungie cycle and Recluse will get a nerf once they have a high usage number to spit out as a reason why. It's funny though, post nerf Luna's is still a better PvP gun and is used more so they'll be stuck in a sticky situation with nerfing that gun twice or pretending like things aren't what they are.

Once comp numbers drop to pre shadowkeep levels, that's when they'll announce the return of Trials. That's the carrot 🥕 they're readying to bait the donkeys.

Oh they are definitely keeping trials in their back pocket, i'm thinking they will use it as a hail marry attempt to bring players back should the numbers drop.

There’s no more pinnacles coming so I don’t see anything being added in the future that will take its place. To be honest, when the next artifact comes out, depending on what weapons they include in that, Recluse could fall off just not being able to take whatever those new mods are ...

I bet you when player count goes into the toilet, you'll see 2 things happen. The return of pinnacle weapons and buffs to exotics. Those are the easiest way to get players back. Another way is more content that is good. But that's too hard for bungie to do so they'll take the quick fix option instead.

Played the dungeon last week for the first time and I can honestly say, it's the most fun I've had all dlc and the last 2 years, not counting forsaken because I enjoyed forsaken. But it wouldn't be destiny if bungie didn't take two steps forward and four steps backwards.

You are correct... I didn't bother playing comp until this season since they introduced the Freelance queue. I got to fabled in under 2 days last week, and this past weekend I got both NF and a serious case of carpal tunnel.

You're not entirely wrong. I just got mine over the weekend after a 7 hour grind just getting to Fabled. Still gonna go for the other Crucible pinnacles, but that was one of my major reasons to go in besides getting the glory requirement for Randy's.

Well you ain't that far off. Everytime something gets "fixed" something else broken is introduced in its place thus negating the fix and creating another issue. It gets harder for me to believe this isn't done on purpose. It happens too many times. Every meta fix has created another broken one. This wouldn't be so bad if we didn't have to wait 6 months to a year for changes.
