Bright dust - None left...

So I came into the new season with around 35K of Bright dust. I had Eververse notes saved and doing bounties etc. etc. - dismantled all I could to get the precious dust... my precious.... So sure I bought a few things for this but, this FotL even has bankrupted my dust - even down to today needing do the Vanguard weekly strikes to get 200 to be able use all my last to get boo emote... seriously... granted I got stuff but, seriously - over priced - feel a bit miffed as dunno what is coming next but, know Im too broke to afford anything... even if not in this season. I only bought one costume for titan to have a halloween outfit and kinda take part in the event... had fun sure but, we do need more ways to earn bigger amounts of dust - I know its only cosmetic but, for the love of the Traveller allow us some way to earn reliably without having to resort to silver or do without. At least make it that we can get a few items... I was collecting the Eververse armour but, no chance of that now since its usually couple K for each character... How am I meant to get so much back now? Even running 3 characters is not enough and should not be required. Doubt anything change but, hey I wanted to say...

  • I want to preface this by saying I strongly dislike how Eververse is currently in the game. The continued disrespect shown towards veteran players who have supported the company sickens me. The best rewards should always be earned through the most challenging game-play rather than bought in a store. However, earning Bright Dust isn't hard at all with the weekly bounties. I just spend like only 3 hours a week doing crucible and Vanguard weeklies on my characters and it nets me 2400 (Excluding Gambit because I hate it). I've spent like probably 15,000+ on the armor sets, but I still have the same amount that I started the season with. AGAIN, I am absolutely not defending Bungie; they're definitely out to subtly drain your bright dust. Even with this, the price of cosmetics is laughably overpriced. It's just like, Eververse items not dismantling into Bright dust isn't the end of the world.

2,500 hours played. After purchasing Boo yesterday? My Bright Dust total is literally zero. Under Activision we had Event engrams, knockoff lists, generous amounts of Bright Dust, 4-5 Silver exclusives, and the temporary Prismatic Matrix. Under Bungie we have no Event engrams, no knockoff lists, no Prismatic Matrix, no Bright Dust, and 10+ Silver Exclusives. Activision wasn’t the problem.

    • They want us to clear our collection of bright dust....so we can be ready to use real money for things like the Dawning. Methodical, yes. They know this shit is overpriced in Eververse.

    • Bright dust was just not a well thought out currency. Tess is getting older and carrying around those bags of dust is taking its toll on her back. Not many people know this, but 1,000 bright dust weighs around 100 pounds! 1,000 silver on the other hand only weighs 7 pounds. What would happen to Everworse if Tess injured herself!?

We don't need more ways to get dust. One very common misconception people have with game currencies is that, when prices go up, they need more currency. In reality, you don't need more dust. The problem, in this scenario, isn't your income, it's Bungie. Bungie had the chance to draw in their community with this event. To let New Light and veteran players enjoy FotL together with new costumes and such. Instead, as they always do, they decided to take FotC as an opportunity to go "whaling". You were not Bungie's target market, nor was I. Bungie knew you wouldn't be able to buy everything at the current prices, just as they knew I wouldn't. Bungie doesn't give a crap about either of us, we're "small fish". The entire point of this event was to draw in the whales; the kids who spend thousands of dollars on mtx items. If Bungie wasn't so busy trying to draw in the whales and milk as much cash from FotC as they can, items would be priced fairly and affordably. It all comes down to greed.

    • I came into the season with 155K or so. I bought quite a bit but quickly realized what they were doing trying to bleed us of it all so we would soend money on silver. Well I slowed down and bought nothing this week and I have 122K left. I will NEVER give Bungie a dime for microtransactions until they respect our time as players. No RNG haunted forest and similar activities...mandatory smart loot throughout the game would be a good start. Until then, I'm good picking and choosing selectively with beight dust.

    • That's how it's supposed to work tho... If Bungie's cash shop can be bought our for free (dust), then the entire point of it makes zero sense. You are supposed to make decisions on what you like/want, and use what you earned in game to supplement with silver purchases. Think of dust as a limited item. Like a coupon, that you should use wisely.

      • I’m trying to earn bright dust to buy the broom stick sparrow. It’s hard to earn bright dust. The best things in this game belong to eververse, which is bad. Why doesn’t bungie think so?

      • Since they announced that they were changing how you get Bright Dust I instantly went into super saver mode. I will only buy items that I will use a lot (Lunar Shell) or I feel they are unique enough to warrant it (Mini Sparrow/Broomstick) Everything else I’m not going to bother with

        • so because you spent an enormous amount and are now broke it should be changed? you do realize YOU spent it by choice, Bungie or any other players don't give a damn. why should things change due to you having no self discipline in spending? would your spending change? not likely.

              • Bungie needs to dramatically increases the chance for Gifts of Bright Dust from Engrams if you already have everything in the engram. Opening Bright Engrams feels like nothing but a chore. Before I at least took consolation in that I was still adding to my stockpile of Bright Dust but now this parade of worthless duplicates just make me waste my time even bothering to open the engram.

                  • To spend that much you must have bought like everything. If you can't control what you buy and work to your budget, bungie can't help you.

Just don't buy every single item for bright dust. You will not use 99% of your items in your collection anyways. My bright dust is still going up. PvP weekly bright dust bounty :---> play rumble or IB, those games are quick and you get 20 % progression per game anyways. Don't matter what you do. (Most likely need 4 games for both weekly BD bounties to be completed at the same time) Gambit weekly BD bounties, play gambit normal. 2 games and they are done both altogether. Strikes weekly BD bounties, look what you need to complete and start the strike manually from the planet. That is the quickest way to complete weekly BD bounties. I never do the daily 10 bright dust bounties cuz they are not worth the time. Also do not buy all items for bright dust in the shop. They are most likely not all worth to be ordered.
