Even after receiving a nerf when Shadowkeep launched, Recluse is still way too good for a primary weapon. It dwarfs every other primary in the game in killing potential. There is no situation or encounter where this weapon isn't top tier in ALL of Destiny 2.
Looking at some stats from warmind.io, you can see that the difference in usage between Recluse and every other weapon in the energy slot is stupidly large:
Raids:
Garden of Salvation: 97%
Crown of Sorrow: 87%
Scourge: 81%
Last Wish: 75%
Other Top PvE Activities:
Pit of Heresey: 88%
Nightfalls (Not Master, which I assume would raise this number): 41%-47%
Gambit Prime: 59%
Gambit Classic: 54%
In Quickplay (via Destinytracker) it has a usage of 8.56, almost double that of the next best option Jade Rabbit.
From playing about 80 hours of IB this week, I can say that almost all of them had a Recluse in them at some point. (Most of the time compared with Mountaintop btw).
Look, it's fine if you like the weapon and like the overpoweredness of it. But I think it's reign needs to come to and end to allow for more flexibility with loadouts.
-
I don't feel they should nerf Recluse again, if anything buff everything else to it's level
-
Please for the love of all that is holy just shut the -blam!- up already. Stop nerfing pinnacle weapons into the ground, Luna’s howl sucks, and so does Redrix (PvE) and now you want to ruin recluse too? -blam!- off.
-
On pc maybe, that thing is a laser on pc. On console not do much, it’s hard to control unless you’re in shot gun range.
-
I have recluse and it’s broken definitely needs a nerf
-
I hate players like you. You could arm any weapon YOU want. But you want ME to stop playing how I want. Don’t like recluse don’t use it.
-
Its a god tier weapon that takes a huge grind it should be
-
Dude, you don't even play the game. 🤔
-
bro please stop. Recluse is not TOO good in PVP. I rarely get killed by it and if I do it was bc I didn't do what I needed to do to counter it. PVE? it's pretty damn good but I don't run it non stop. Sunshot honestly is just as good as well as a few others.
-
Nope. #powerfulagain
-
By more flexibility, you mean more suckage? Cuz recluse is where a lot of weapons should be in effectiveness, it gets used not because it OP but because other weapons tend to be ineffective in comparison.
-
Big difference between cosole and PC. When you ask for weapons nerfs please state the platform you're on.
-
Your reasoning is more pve based which shows me that rather than using it for optimal loadout you would rather use something else. I respect other raid groups if they say have recluse then I use recluse simple you can't go into someone's elses raid and do what you want. In pvp it is incredibly popular but after the effective range nerf to ricochet rounds it fell in line but still maintain its pinnacle dominance with MoA. If recluse had to be touched than it should Activate its own perk but thats not what people want and I can't blame them. Its not hard to get the gun just get and use it for pve and once you feel confident in your ability and build you won't need it for pvp but I can't blame you for using it.
-
I...
Agree
-
There are a lot of other guns that can compete with the recluse. High impact fusion rifles(think erentil and wizened rebuke), shotguns, last word, Luna’s howl, etc. as far as pvp is concerned there are plenty of other options. Regarding pve, why not just make other guns more powerful than nerf an already fun weapon? If a lot of people enjoy running a specific load out they should be able to. They payed their own money for it didn’t they?
-
Terrabah is amazing in pve. I prefer it over my recluse cus its fun.
-
It will probably be touched on, but Bungie will likely go down the route of just touching the damage multiplier. I'd rather they replaced Feeding Frenzy with Auto-Loading Holster since that fits better with the weapons design. Fix Master of Arms damage multiplier and get rid of Feeding Frenzy. That's all it needs so it isn't a brain-dead primary that is also coincidentally one of the best in the game. If a legendary weapon is to be extremely powerful or potent, it should also require a comparative amount of attention to use. Focus on headshots, attention to damage types, so on.
-
If a weapon is used a lot, that doesn’t mean it’s too powerful compared to other weapons. A high rate of usage can be a symptom of something that’s unbalanced, but on its own it’s not enough to substantiate that claim. SMG’s in general are fairly versatile and Recluse is one of the best. However, in PVP it still requires precise placement and accuracy to be effective. It’s terrible once you enter medium/long range compared to many other weapons. I could see a slight nerf to the master at arms perk in pvp. Nerfing that in pve would kill the weapon. It’s also likely that while it is a great weapon, it’s popularity is due at least in part to word of mouth by the community.
-
Tell Bungie to actually make some guns that compete with Recluse. If not they should make no guns at all and make some real content for a change.

Ya gotta love all the training wheels people downvoting this and stamping their feet in the ground saying "no it's not!". Time to find something else to crutch on. For raiding, mttp, recluse, izanagi's, divnity are the end all be all. People gravitate towards the easy way, and those mentioned are the peak of easy. Just need some nerfs to mttp and recluse, the two exotics are in different slots and server different purposes, they're the only balanced ones. Need to make mttp and recluse exotic to match their overwhelming usefulness.
-
-
You do know it isn’t a primary correct?
-
After they nerf it and all guns with rampage AGAIN, you'll just complain about something else.
-
I honestly can’t understand how people don’t think it’s a bit overpowered. Just make it exotic, problem solved. If you want POWERFUL pinnacle weapons, make them exotic. Personally I’d stick with these new ritual weapons that aren’t better than regular legendaries.

Edited by Vader104: 11/12/2019 10:26:55 PMIn pve I have both a solar and arc smg that has multikill clip and outlaw. Both work just as well depending on activity and what shields I face. Hand cannons in pve are still a monster so I don’t think it’s as OP as people think. They hear people complain about it being op and gravitate to it. Pvp it’s good but I don’t die to it that often to be honest. With this pulse meta players have a tough time closing the gap now EDIT: I’m on console. I’m sure the laser accuracy on PC is the huge difference
-
nope. recluse will be meta for the next 6 seasons and everything will be perfectly balanced
-
For one you're limited to what weapons you can put a mod in needed for certain activities in pve. Secondly there are plenty of ways recluse can be countered in pvp, maybe try them? If not, that's your fault. Lastly you don't play enough imo for your opinion to even be considered or valid for the majority. Is recluse a top tier weapon? sure but I wouldn't say it's op. It doesn't need a nerf, it's fine.
