So how exactly are we to launch this weeks ordeal? If we free players can play the strike (from playlist)....why can't we launch the ordeal. It requires shadow keep....

Then why can we play scarlet keep via playlist? Ordeal is locked... They are the same, other then the new mob mechanics right?

Because only year one nighfalls are included with new light, which means you won't be able to access the ordeal when it is a year 2 or year 3 strike. It's on the new light infographic bungie shared before launch.

I've already played all the strikes via playlist, whats with the lock on ordeals..?

The lock on ordeals is because you don’t get access to pinnacle activities without owning the respective dlc. It’s the same reason you can play menagerie, but not crown of sorrows. It doesn’t matter if it’s the same strike just different mechanics, because it’s a pinnacle reward drop from content you don’t own. That means you don’t get access to it in the rotation. It will be exactly the same when any forsaken strike is the nightfall because pinnacle activities aren’t the heroic strike playlist.

Because one is a pinnacle activity that is limited to people who have bought the game? It makes perfect sense if you pay attention to what they’re trying to do with new light.

Looks like it's the scarlet keep strike which really does suck for those without shadow keep

I feel like it was potentially not intended to come up much like the time wave splitter started dropping early on xbox. They're usually pretty good about setting that aside
