Bungie - You didn't let people know how the season passes would work with sub accounts...now you have to make up for it

Since D1 all of Destiny's content has been shareable. Not telling us this changes is a serious breach of trust. Some sort of restitution needs to be made for this lack of communication. So now that it's been confirmed (on PSN anyway) that game sharing on a PlayStation (Primary account) only shares the DLC main content and not season pass content you need to offer them at a discount for a limited time. The Deluxe version of Shadowkeep is $25 more (USD) then the standard version. (See Edit3) This essentially means that seasons 2, 3, & 4 are at a $5 discount in total
Edit3 Math Fail changes this. I think what is right is that you offer a 4 Season bundle for $20 through this season. This way people that were going to by all the season anyway now can do that for their sub accounts at a discount.
To the community: - We have to accept that despite their lack of transparency on this (Another issue with their QA and Customer Facing teams) they are not going to give anything for free. Even Season 1 - Some may have already purchased Season 1 at the $10 (my Son). I'm open to suggestions. The other season aren't available for purchase yet. Do what's right Bungie EDIT: They may have mentioned that the Season Passes were 'not part of the DLC' but that doesn't give any insight into how that affects GameSharing. Something I'm sure thousands of people were doing. EDIT2: I'm not against this model. We do it for ESO, Fortnite, and others. The model is fine. The issue is the lack of transparency on how it is affecting Destiny (or even that it would.) It's also not about the $$. $10 per seaons is not expensive and I can afford all of it. It's about the clarity of communication and people's expectation they've had for 5 years. Edit3: Math Fail. Deluxe is $25 more not $15. Made the change to that statement. My stance on their lack of transparency stands. Mostly good conversations with some toxicity thrown in but that's to be expected. Busy rest of day and likely wont reply any more. Keep the conversation going if you want.

  • I find it troubling that households can't share the entirety of the game and they want your wife, son, daughter, ECT to fork out even more $$ but they open the game for free play 😕 very disturbing . I agree game share is not fare to them when it is used outside the household but households shouldn't have to buy a seperate season pass for each person in that house, hence a single mother with 3 kids has to dough out $40 plus every 2.5 to 3 months to play with her kids a few times a wk. Not right.

I love how people defend all of the wrong things in the gaming industry. Examples: - "They got to make that money somehow" - "Dont have to buy that lootbox if you don't want it's not a big deal" - "It's just cosmetics" - "You have to use internet to update anyway if you want the new patches" - (and now....stupidly) "why are you game sharing (on the same system) anyway?" Like.....what? If you took aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaany time at all, just a small partial of your brain to think about what you are saying/defending? You'd understand why gaming us going down the toilet. Not op, I'm talking idiot in general. Edit: and if you need other players in a game for the game to be fun.... Game isn't really fun... Just -blam!-ing saying. Mmo or otherwise, if the game is work and not fun solo, game isn't fun. Looking at you ghost recon BP.... And game we all know I'm actually talking about 😏

Yeah, I found that out the hard way. I logged onto my PSN subaccount yesterday just to see what things looked like for new/returning players. I found out that----while the subaccount has access to the DLC that I bought for my main---it doesn't have access to the Season Pass. That is a fumble on Bungie's part. This is a common enough situation when you have families playing the same game, that they either should have come up with a solution....or at least been more transparent about how this would work in reality. But Hanlon's Razor applies. Never attribute to malice what can be more easily explained by either carelessness or laziness. I think "carelessness" on this one, is the more plausible explanation.

      • First off as much as you want to be right , you clearly are not. Bungie clearly stated the season passes were separate from the dlc. They did say this seasons pass would be included in Shadowkeep but only the first accounts characters who logged in would have it activated.

this is entitlement at its finest. It is up to you, the consumer to ask questions and if you're unsure on how things are and you should do some research. This is a you problem. $25 for a year of content and a $35 expansion? Those are prices that we've been paying for years ago...this is pretty inexpensive. Bungie is doing a lot behind the scenes "making up for it" as it were. Own your mistake and stop putting it on others.

                  •
- We have to accept that despite their lack of transparency on this (Another issue with their QA and Customer Facing teams) they are not going to give anything for free.
This isn't simply a matter of a lack of transparency. They were being blatantly misleading. They used the same wording they've used since 2014, the store front descriptions made no mention to how they were expected to work, and they were listed as being inclusive in the content of the expansion. All signs pointed to the passes working as they always have. Bungie knew they were being misleading with this, that's why nothing was said about them being tied to your account until they were pressed repeatedly by a journalist at Forbes, and still, official channels were deliberately vague. What Bungie are doing by doing this is no different to if games were locked to individual memory cards, or save files, on previous console generations. And it's no different if they were to try to charge players to use the second and third character slots. People might see that as being hyperbolic, but that's where we are now. Players have been using their legitimately purchased content on secondary accounts for decades, as has been allowed by Sony and MS's DRM policies. It's the entire reason why Microsoft made their infamous 180 following the reveal of the XB1 console in 2013. Consumers need to start defending their position, like they did with the XB1's announcement, or monetisation within the gaming industry is only going to get more and more messy.

The problem with todays players is they don’t know the old days in gaming are over, but they still feel entitled about alot of stuff... We did this to our selfs with one buying it and give it to 10 other friends who don’t want to pay for it... sure i get it in some way with a family and kids in one household but most act like Sony and developers didn’t know they lose alot of money because of this?? Do i agree with it? of course not but i kind of understand this has happend and saw it coming years ago. The fact that alot of these players act like Bungie is the first to do this is a joke and you should give your head a shake... alot of developers are doing this and i gues the most pressure comes from Sony/XBox who also see they can make more money... imo it took Bungie a long time to do this because some games have already done it years ago with battle passes and dlc bound to one account...

                      • They introduced cross save so they could charge both accounts instead of one getting it for free lol. Mind blown but in all honesty I just paid another 10$ for another season pass.

                            • Their Lack of Transparency plagues me in another way. So they went and changed how Forges work and now we're restricted to 1 different forge a day. They did mention that weapons aren't tied to specific forges but they didn't mention if obsidian accelerators (Turn into Radiance) and gold weapons frames being rewarded into Masterworked versions, if they now also come from all forges or if it's still JUST the Begusia Forge (Niobe Labs.) It's frustrating not knowing this.

                            • Bungie isnt going to make up for it, they arent going to change it, they arent listening to your feedback just like literally every other time. Knowing all this.. you're still going to play the expansion and line up for the next one. Why? Because you're sheep, bungie knows it. If I had a fan base as brainless as this one I'd take advantage of them too.

                                    • It has always been per console not per account. Personally this is not affecting me, but I know someone personally will not buy this expansion because of this decision. Every advancement with this game seems to be how do we get more money out of our customers. Eververse is now selling finishing moves, lol. Where does the cash grab end and actually show their customers we care? Not by using recycled content on the moon.
