More diversity in PvP maps and Strikes

PvP I think here in Destiny 2 we've had no shortage of hotdog to bun close maps and maps like "Emperor's Respite" and even "Eternity" have come to be sorely missed. We don't need anymore close quarter battle maps as of now. Maybe some maps with multiple dimensions to it would do some good. An example, the boss arena in Scourge of the past. I couldn't express how exciting PvP would become in D2 with a map like that Strikes Real stale bungie. I've been grinding strikes for materials and honestly I can't think of many other grinds that are as mind-numbingly boring. Every now and again I catch those 2 strikes 'Inverted Spire" and "Arms Dealer" the versions with that tank. Those become significantly more fun with Tanks. Maybe make those versions come up more?

  • Strikes are so boring and feel unrewarding. You do the weekly thing and your out of there. Maybe some strike specific weapons or armor would be cool

    The Games been out for how long? The only new crucible map they’ve added is the white Osiris map lol. How long was that ago? Season 1? But hey let’s ignore that! Let’s give gambit some brand new game-modes with new maps. Hell let’s add some exotic questlines into it too!

  • I would love more PvP maps(for both 4v4 comp and 6v6 Quickplay. And maybe somehow make great maps for Rumble as spawns are hot garbage in that gametype and on some maps). Strikes I would like to see new stuff but they've been gradually doing it. Only so many ways you can rewrap them but who knows. I'm not saying they're ok to just kind of copy and paste but we need new feels to Strikes. Maybe we just need a few more Dungeons or something as well. Idk. All I know is I agree on the PvP part as that's where I spend 90% of my time

  • Yeah, they are working on it for Shadowkeep. I hope we get a SHITLOAD of pvp maps though... Port in every D1 map exactly as it was in D1(no added rubble piles or other garbage) PLUS make some new maps and have them actually rotate in a set order or whatever just so you see them all instead of seeing the same map over and over. Change the heavy spawns around constantly so they can't be memorized. Make a Battlefield mode where there is a frontline you can't cross and respawn is behind cover. Hell, make respawn areas on every map that are shielded and can't be shot into or invaded... a small room with multiple exits facing every direction that can't be shot through or entered. Or just make the maps too damn big to spawn camp. And shotguns are too damn ape infested. Make them all slug guns like Chaperone so it takes at least a bit of skill to get the ohk. Anyway, there are a lot of ways to improve pvp.

    • You mean 6v6 maps that would help PvP out quite a bit besides more maps? Strikes need major improvements... With the loot, adding more. Spawning in by yourself having to wait for someone to show up to move forward needs to go. A lot of the bosses can be killed on the first encounter but you can't on some because the only thing stopping you from killing a boss is the immune. More of a challenge should be added to them other than using the immune option as the only option. Some of them are way too short. The respawn time should be shortened. 30 seconds to respawn yourself especially knowing how some people leave you behind or you're by yourself is annoying. I liked D1 y1 strikes to were you could run them by yourself and not have to wait for anyone nor did you get pulled ahead forcing you to speed run the strikes. There needs to be a happy medium when it comes to that. Then again, if Bungie would offer more, most would feel they have to speed run because they just want to get the pain over with.

      • I still have flashbacks to Savathun's Song given how much I got it when D2 launched. It seemed to be the only strike that existed!

      • I wanna see more bosses with mechanics. Not the health-gate type mechanics per se, but maybe something like a rotating shield element or some sort of wipe mechanic the team needs to play around with. Of course don't make it as intricate as raid mechanics, but something besides "ope, boss is immune, you need to do a thing to make em unimmune."

          • This is why vostock excels in all aspects of combat. It's got that nice touch between short and long range lanes. Bannerfall is OK, but the far side of the map extends out too much. It's kinda wasted space.

            And more difficulties for the strikes, killing bosses in 30 seconds is no longer fun. (And also delete boss immunity)

          • The reason they hardly ever add maps to PvP is the same as why most existing ones are small as hell: Pure laziness and greed. Why make big maps if you don’t make money directly off of them? Why make maps at if you don’t directly make money off of them? You are not dealing with an ethical game company. You are dealing with money hungry devs who always do the bare minimum to keep their obligations, if any.

          • I got lake of shadows in vanguard strikes today for the first time in months. On the other hand, everyone complains about bosses having immunity phases, but that’s the only way to even see the boss’s mechanics in action. Any boss that doesn’t have an immunity phase gets killed in 5 seconds (and even some with delayed phases still get killed quickly). I understand that people don’t want bullet sponge bosses like in D1, but there needs to be a good middle ground if the boss fight is supposed to even matter. Even though some bosses in D1 were bullet sponges, they were still fun because they had interesting mechanics and lasted long enough for you to see them in action.

              • They have already said that in shadowkeep they will make strike look valuable (and more strikes) and they confirmed “renewed focus” on pvp (which means new maps) it’s already being fixed bud

              • They claim they're all in the playlist and RNG picks it. I however calls BS on that. I think a few of them are selected for the day and then they get scaled with some having very very low chance and one having like 90% chance.

              • All strikes contain the same gameplay. Several mini bosses, and time/damage gated bosses. All boss fights are in enclosed gladiator arenas with no cover. The pattern is so stale. I'd LOVE to have D1 strikes back simply because they weren't one layout, reskinned 7 times.

                • Emperor's Respite is my favorite D2 map. It should only be in the rotation for clash. I get why it's not in for control, but clash theres no reason
