Edited by TheArtist: 7/17/2019 1:32:55 PMI think they just don't understand. They don't understand what its like to play their own game in the wild...and they don't understand how to design an enjoyable PVP experience in 2019,. Becuase---in part---they can't escape the legacy of Halo. A colleague at work remarked about an inspection group yesterday, "They know all the procedures and rules, but they don't understand any of the practicalities (of what we do here.)" IOW----to borrow the old saying, "The know the price of everything, but the value of nothing." This is Bungie's Crucible team in a nutshell. They look at their data...but that's ALL they look at. So they can tell you WHAT is happening in the game....but they can't tell you WHY its happening because they dont' TALK to the people who actually are in the trenches every day. As well as being resistant to outside ideas and approaches (We're Bungie. We Know Best). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WlGdoFNCZXc&t=314s I....LOVE...this video. Hats off to Geekermon for having the stones to swallow his pride and post it. BECAUSE THIS VIDEO IS A **PERFECT** EXAMPLE OF WHAT THE QUICKPLAY EXPERIENCE IS LIKE RIGHT NOW FOR THE AVERAGE PLAYER AND THE SOLO QUEUE PLAYER. ...and I refuse to believe that anyone who as personally experienced this can think that being on the recieving end of the irresistible snowball you see in this video is anything REMOTELY enjoyable. I think how Bungie traps themselves is that they are so obsessed with metrics that they are blind to everything else. So they build the experience and make changes to the game around what their target group is doing....or worse, against some abstract idea....but never stop to consider what impact this will have on the rest of the community....or hte play experience as a whole. But I swear, this video should be required viewing for everyone on the Crucible team....anad hte fact that THIS is how most people experience their handiwork should be a point of red-faced embarrassment. Truly.

Their data tells them this is happening. They just have no idea just how HORRIBLE a play experience this creates for the people who have to endure. They have no idea because they (imo) don't play their own game....so they don't personally experience it..... ...and they dont' interact with the community directly...so they have no means to take the temperature of the community in a meaningful way. So its very easy for them to just put their head down and ignore this....until the engagement numbers tank. Which is what I tell people to do. Just stop playing. Vote with your feet, and just don't play content that is providing a negative experience. Bungie will **eventually** get the message. Now that I have my full set of Notorious armor from Reckoning? I won't be going back. When i finally turn over my Valor two more times to get my Redrix's to check the box for the MoT seal? Won't be back to the Crucible until I need to get some other quest done. That's the only way Bungie ever gets around to doing anything about this kind of stuff. We have to speak as a community with our play time.
