Bit of background: I have never been big at PvP or Co-op in general. Battle Royale as a genre is a cool concept to me because of stories like Hunger Games, so I do like trying some of the free ones out there but have never found one I liked. Also, I am generally not a fan of EA and have never touched Respawn game until this day.
But Apex Legends does it for me I think. I tried it today and mained Bloodhound and I came away with more of an incentive to play a PvP game than I have for a long time. The combat was smooth for one thing, the aesthetic was pleasant, the character design was up my alley as well.
Bloodhound even gave me a stand out moment in my PvP career: Tracking. I was actually able to track a live character's footprints like a ranger/hunter and follow him across a countryside to gun him down. The great part of it was that my partner in voice chat was just as impressed at the ability as I was. The sneaky fool would've gotten out alive if it weren't for that ability.
Speaking of communication, the ping system is a great system for those of us who don't use Voice chat all that often. I was able to tactically communicate with my random squad on Voice chat and wipe squad after squad (something I haven't been able to much of in most games. *to self* Get Gud!).
Just my two cents worth that if the game impresses a non PvP gamer that usually sticks to assassinating post apocalyptic Caesars than you know the game is at least doing something right.

The ping system is super useful, now I can actually ask for stuff from my allies without talking to them!
