Blast Furnace vs Bygones
So my PvPers, I got my perfect PvP roll in my Blast Furnace: Outlaw, Kill Clip, Drop Mag. After some Crucible games, I like this Pulse. But I just get this feeling...that my Bygones is better. I feel like I’m doing better with it, getting kills faster and quicker. Idk why because my Bygones has Outlaw and Rangefinder on it.
So! The question is: why do I seem to be doing worse with the Furnace vs my Bygones?

Close your eyes and aim In general direction with pulses and you’re good. Pulses are to user friendly and need less aim assist.

7 RepliesConsistently - bygones. Best pulse in the game and my most consistent anyway. My blast furnace has snap shot, drop mag and kill clip. It’s a monster but inconsistent . Especially vs Luna. Bygones struggles but can win at a slight range, but blast furnace is more unforgiving. You need to be closer to land the 4 burst and have at least 3 hit at 27 to make it viable .

Not sure I qualify to reply at this topic as I'm not PvP player at all, plus I don't have Blast Furnace, only Bygones, besides, I don't understand pulse rifles "as is" in this game. Anyway, back in military I was part of controlled study involving placebo. And medics found out I'm not affected by it. Because of that I underwent more experiments than other participants and read some literature on the subject (also heard a lot of stories:)). Simply put, placebo effect not only exists, it is very powerful. Not going to bore you with details, unless you want. My question is - have you tried to more or less objectively assess your performance versus same opponent(s) to reduce factor of random players such as yours truly (as I'm terrible PvP playeR) or it just "feels like"? Reason I'm asking is that I have somewhat similar "relations" between Breakneck and Hazard of the Cast, which are very close to each other from statistical perspective, yet for me second is better: it is more predictable and has higher ammo reserves. therefore, I'm more comfortable with it. Leaving games aside, as construction worker I have exactly the same situation at work, where older, worn (but still usable) tools are frequently more comfortable to be used than modern, yet a bit "wacky" ones. And it's not because I'm old grumpy analogue pepperbox living in digital world, or we live in era of disposable goods, no. Can't point my finger on what's wrong with, say, new drill, but I'll take old trusty one any day, as I like working with it better. You may have something similar - while Blast Furnace may have better stats "on paper" in your hands Bygones feels a little bit more familiar/predictable or, simply, "just right", as we can't "fine tune" (so much for "Gunsmith" Banshee-44) existing guns. And if you feel better with it, your performance may be better. Sorry for rather long and winding text, Take care.

2 RepliesI personally can't wait to give BF a good go with a good roll. My "god roll" I want to try is going to be Rasmussen ISO, Stabilized rounds, Zen Moment, Rampage. Master worked stability. It looks like it is a laser beam!

Furnace is better at the range for scout, it's range is dumb far for a pulse.

2 RepliesI had a bygones with headseeker and rampage and my blast furnace with feeding frenzy and headseeker is much better, for me anyways. I feel like it’s just a matter of preference.

I haven't tried Blast Furnace yet, but I have yet to find a pulse rifle better than Bygones.
