Is stability just not even counted on some weapons?

Got and did my catalyst for my Merciless that both dropped yesterday and going by the masterwork upgrade that stability nearly maxes out so here I was expecting little to no recoil yet after getting it done, applying it and firing it it almost seems like there is more recoil than before, if not even changed at all. Anyone else get this?

  • Merciless has literally (no joke) 0 aim assist, so even if it has excellent stability and range it's still trash in pvp since it practically has no target magnetism

    • Stability doesn't affect recoil on FRs it's the spacing between strands when it fires and once Merciless is masterworked, there is no gap between them. It's basically another Sleeper haha

    • I don’t think it affects weapons much anymore. I’m D1, just a bit of stability made a difference. I’m D2, I’ve had weapons that got all stability perks and MW, seemed to make zero difference in recoil.

    • Night and day difference in my opinion and I've had the catalyst on Merciless since end of year one. The stability buff was noticeable. What disappointed me was that the increased Range barely affected damage falloff.

    • Higher stability doesn't translate to less recoil. Stability determines how quickly a weapon returns to "center" after firing. There will always be recoil, but higher stability makes you recover from it more quickly, allowing you to fire more quickly, while having more of your shots go where you're actually aiming. Think of a high-impact hand cannon. You fire a shot, and the gun kicks back. If you wait a second, it will return to center, and you can fire again with good accuracy, but if you don't wait, and fire a second shot a quickly as possible, the second shot will most likely go over your target's head, unless you're at point-blank range, and as you keep firing, you'll basically be stacking recoil onto recoil, your aim will be off more and more with each shot. As your stability gets higher, it allows you to fire higher-recoil weapons closer to their maximum fire rate while maintaining accuracy.

      • On fusion rifles. Range = bolt travel speed. Stability = bolt spread. More stability = less bolt spread.
