For those of you who don’t know, every enemy faction in Destiny is based on real life ancient civilizations, religions and historical figures. Fallen = Pirates Hive = Ancient Europe/Dark Age Mythology Vex = Ancient Greece Mythology Cabal = Roman Empire That is why some units of each faction are made and designed to have some reflection of what they are based on. Ex: Hive Knights have Swords to reflect real Knight weaponry Cabal Phalanxes have giant shields that reference a Roman tactic where a group of foot soldiers with shields huddle up to make a wall Since the Darkness is coming soon, I’ve been wondering what they could be based on. Personally, I’m hoping for Egyptian because the creatures and figures in that culture are more interesting. I would love to see some sort of serpent creature (more specifically, an Apep: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apep) implemented into the game. But, if you feel like some other mythological creature is more deserving, feel free to share. Edit: Changed Cabal to Roman Empire from Holy Roman Empire because I have been corrected because I’m not a History person. Sorry for the inconvenience!

  • I feel the darkness religion/culture should be Necroism from the Chronicles of Riddick movie. Necromongers/Necroism The Necromongers are a religious empire and one of four elder races, that zealously and violently follows and propagates its religion Necroism. An absolutely fanatic group that believes life is antagonistic to the natural state of the universe. They intend to convert or kill all who oppose them. The Necromongers believe that each 'verse has its own god, that life is antagonistic to the natural order of the universe and must be purged from it to be reborn in the Underverse. The Underverse is their promised land, believing that unless a person dies "in due time" that they will not go to the Underverse. They also believe heavily in a philosophy that says "you keep what you kill"(sword logic maybe), believing that ending another's life entitles you to their property and position.
