Against my better judgement, I solo queued in Competitive. I've been avoiding this for the past couple of weeks because during EVERY solo session (over the course of an hour or so), I will be placed in a 3v4 or 2v4 situation at least once, and oftentimes more than that.
However, I really wanted to play some Comp. today and none of my usual teammates were online or able. First game upon queuing is myself and another soloist vs. a 4-stack in Control.
100-14 loss. Complete waste of time, and not only that, but both of us actually lose points and are set further back in our quest to obtain Luna's Howl.
This is absolutely unacceptable and downright pathetic how the matchmaking process can be this broken. As much as I love this game--and believe me, I do, even with its flaws and all--Bungie should be utterly embarrassed by how incompetent their Competitive playlist is.
These forums have topics devoted to this problem every single day, and I have not seen Bungie address the issue even once. Competitive is pure trash, and a bulk of the problem comes down to the ineptitude of the matchmaking, which, when it pits one team that is half the f*^#ing size of the other team against one another, is LITERALLY broken.

14 RepliesI love how everyones answer to this is to just have your own 4 stack, but some times you just want to play by yourself or your friends are not online as this player clearly states in the body topic. however by having your own 4 stack it leads to the opposing team having players leave therefore an unequal game again so its a consistent cycle.

It’s why I stopped playing comp. I don’t have time to find teams and spend the time gathering players. Then players quit or just straight up suck leaving you to get -blam!-. Losing points to lag outs is annoying. It’s sad it couldn’t happen more to teams playing against me!

If the teams have uneven players at the start of a match for the first 10 seconds you should be able to vote for a miss match and return to orbit without losing rank.

These asshats haven't figured out to balance it yet, maybe another annual pass will do it...or 5...

Get a team and stop complaining

Edited by Aresh1: 12/3/2018 1:42:12 AMHere's the thing bro. The 4 stacks are looking get easy wins like you. I'm at 1700 and I can tell you it's super sweaty only 4 stack teams with not forgotten. If we get a solo 4 it's rare and a great treat. We always get the win that we desperately need after going against 4 stacks. So my advice if you want to hop into comp. Get a team otherwise go do quick play. I sold lunas last season and it was a grind. But right now dont bother until the sweats are at the top.

3 RepliesGet your own team, or monitor the X/8 circle in the bottom right corner.

This is not on Bungie’s end, but a result of player’s attempting to dodge a four man team by watching “searching for guardians”, then ditching when the counter jumps up by an increment of four. To avoid this from happening, form your own four man team. You’ll then be the benefactor of spineless guardians trying to ditch. Bungie could address this by removing the counter, or applying the leaving penalty for leaving sooner. Good luck.

7 RepliesIt's not the matchmaking, people are leaving before the game starts. There is no way to prevent players from leaving a game, so please stop bashing Bungie about it and instead wonder why there is no solo-only playlist.
-
5 RepliesSo you solo qued and lost points and somehow that's bungie's fault because your teammates saw 8/8 pop up to quickly so they backed out as the match was starting.... hmm. 🤨 sounds like you just had bad teammates since they were afraid to play a team of 4.

12 RepliesI solo queued and I’m enjoying myself, but that’s because I know how to play pvp. Stop complaining, looking like a special snowflake

I love when me and my team get loaded in to a 4v0! I’ll take free points any day

2 RepliesHappens in QP too. Ten players equals 6v4. Better yet. Nine players equals 6v3. It is basic math a child can do. Bungies matchmaking algorithem apparently cannot.

If only bungie could see....
