For those who, through no fault of their own, were not taught something classic, the tanka is the big brother of the haiku. It has five lines of seven syllables in a pattern of 5-7-5, 7-7. A tanka should contain references to two related famous poems, one within its first three lines and one within the concluding pair. Most tanka do not rhyme--indeed, some masters of the form considered rhyme a flaw--but I like to make the final lines of each section rhyme.
Let's write haiku and tanka about the Destiny and Destiny 2 setting and story! I'll start with two.

To exotic worlds
We bring power, and contest
Honor and freedom.
The charge of Light's guardians!
Darkness falls to our anthem.
(Referenced poems are "The Traveller" by Oliver Goldsmith, and "The Charge of the Light Brigade" by Alfred, Lord Tennyson)
Big as a city,
Immortal Ghaul floats above.
Look and feel despair!
We lit the darkness as a
Small candle. How will he fare?
(Referenced poems are "Ozymandias" by Percy Bysshe Shelley, and various poems that borrowed the phrase "Yet is it far better to light the candle than to curse the darkness" from a 1907 sermon by William Lonsdale Watkinson)
