I finally acquired Redix’s Broadsword

And I will be taking steps to avoid crucible at all costs. Something doesn’t feel right or fun playing pvp in this game. I can’t narrow it down specifically, which is a problem because that means the general idea of the Crucible is flawed. I don’t know how or what could fix PvP in general, but it needs a complete reworking somehow. The only idea is this, add in vehicles. From vandal bikes to the tank, give this combat more variation and things to fight over while facing each other.

  • People take a while getting this. I get it day 1 because of claymore previous season. Man, at least the comp pinnacle weapons have gotten more and more worth it.

    • 390 pulses, Luna shitting on pretty much every other primary. People are using telesto like a primary weapon. Rampant shotgun sliding.

      • I actually didn’t mind the redrix quest as it wasn’t forcing me to get wins so i could enjoy myself and focus on the quest and getting gud, i must admit that playing the rediculous number of hours it took to get redrix changed me so that i could hold my own in crucible, but i still don’t really enjoy crucible just because i feel like i’m being forced to play it and i’d like to be able to take it slower sometimes and not have to grind for days on end at a time.

        • Redrix gets outplayed by a lot. It was the meta in season 3, but now Luna’s is king. I’ve got both, and have to say I like both. Redrix is good when you proc the desperado, but even then at certain ranges. I like it mostly for PvE mobs. But even then there are better weapons to use. I’d say it is worth it to get as a trophy, but in PvP, Luna’s is more viable.

            I could write a four page essay on what's wrong with Crucible but I've done nearly that many times on these forums. The problem is any time you suggest problems or slight alterations the paranoid, good ol boys, of the Crucible come riding out of the desert screaming "You'll have to pry this gun from my cold dead hands!". The "conversation" goes something like the following. "You'll never take our guns!" "I... ugh... don't want to take your guns. I was just saying if we make it so heavy ammo only spawns twice a match we might-" "You are an enemy of liberty and free speech!" "What?! I'm just saying if we alter energy ammo a bit or maybe the range of-" "You want it to go back to 4v4 you -blam!-ing fascist!" "What are you talking about? When did I ever even come close to saying that? All I'm saying is that if we buff some of the other weapon types there might be-" "Guess what, snowflake? We don't take kindly to your socialist agenda 'round these parts!" "I don't even know what to say to that. I'm just trying to bring a little more variety and skill to PvP. I just-" "More like bring rapists and murders into our Crucible" "What? How? Forget it. I give up. You can keep your post apocalyptic hellscape!" The defenders of the current meta and general PvP experience are quick to shut down any kind of conversation and will just keep putting words in your mouth because they know the only way they can succeed is if everything stays the same.

              Reducing flinch on snipers would be a good start. Then you won't see everyone holding forward with shotguns taped to their hands. Make telesto heavy or make the bolts do less Make heavy like D1 one spawn shared by teams those are just off the cuff BIG improvements that need to happen in crucible imo. I honestly miss 4v4 I was one of the few people who really enjoyed crucible in Y1. I think 4v4 just lives in the comp playlist now which is fine. 6v6 with the amount of heavy spawns, super spam, and map design is just cancerous. Half or more of your deaths are pretty much always a super or rocket in the face you can do little about. What quickplay is now is honestly just watered down mayhem with control points sometimes. It is garbage. I pretty much only play rumble and comp now. Only did quickplay recently for redrix quest and boy were those 25 matches a slog. Also ran some IB for the loots. While grinding for luna I learned the beauty of comp. Sometimes it is rough, but the games are usually entertaining and get my blood pumping a little. Quickplay is either frustratingly annoying or a curb stomp and I fall asleep.

                I'm still trying to get mine. And I got to say grinding for this gun is NOT fun at all. Pvp is terrible. The more I play this poor excuse of a pvp mode the more I just want to delete the entire game. But I'm too far into the quest. Pvp is NOT fun at all. It's a -blam!-ing chore. No wonder people pay to get these stupid weapons. It sure beats the hell out of playing this crap. I'm trying to get to my 4th reset. As I'm nearing legend rank i'ts like the game is throwing every stupid thing my way. Stacked teams, bs spawns giving the enemy team free kills, potatoes for teammates that run into your bullets allowing the enemies to escape and kill us both, constant heavy coming at us are some of the bullshit things. Heavy comes in too much. It's not fun at all. If I wanted to play a match with lots of heavy spawns I'd play mayhem. All it does is add to the cheapness of game mode. Oh I forgot my favorite all time issue with pvp. Hell it's in pve as well and is ridiculously common. And that is when bullets don't register. Pvp is challenging for ALL the wrong reasons. No wonder people quit matches. And I don't blame them. Hell I don't think bad about paid carries. They saved their sanity by paying someone else to do it. I say it was a smart move. If pvp wasn't a shit show I'd have a different opinion.

                    Grats on getting Redrix and I agree. The entire Crucible needs to be redone. D2's crucible was designed for 4v4 with not only map sizes and the original sandbox, but rulesets and game modes as well. Now that we're back to 6v6 for half of PvP, completely different weapon slotting and huge changes to the sandbox, it just doesn't fit together well. I'm hoping that when Trials returns, survival and countdown will move there and Comp/QP both become 6v6 featuring only Control and Clash. I also really wish Control would return to D1's format. I don't think D2's control works for 6v6 and the Iron Banner changes while novel, don't make for better play, just more lopsided victories.

                        • I was saying something similar to my friends - I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong (if anything), but I just can't seem to find Crucible enjoyable in the long run. Got the Broadsword today... may literally never play another match again.

                          I think your looking for more than pvp then. I enjoy pvp. It is in a better spot now. You buggin. Thunderlord is the gally. Telsto is beast Chatter bone raid pulse is the shii Soo many shottys to cchoose from! Trust is soo satisfying! Luna's howl, I almost have her!! This pvp feels closer to how it was in D1. They could tweak MM for a better algorithm.

                              The TTK mixed with Bungie's dumbass match manipulation with things like Bloom 'missing shots' Lowered accuracy Less Damage Larger/Smaller Hitboxes. What you don't enjoy is Bungie's form of PvP. (They keep a high TTK to be able to have room to manipulate it, be it 5% less damage, 5% slower, etc.) Play a different game and check out their matchmaking/PvP. You'll notice a huge difference.
