So I’ve been running spectral blades for a bit now what with all the y’all about it being underwhelming and I’ve picked up on the few things. I’ll be going through the subclass branch perk by perk to give a better overall guide, but I’ll be doing the super itself last.
1. Corrosive Smoke: using it in tandem with grenades is a good way to lock down an area. I like to use it during those medium-long distance shoot outs as a way to disrupt the enemy.
2. Flawless Execution: best used during the previously mentioned shootouts or opportunistic moments with precision shotguns like the chaperone. This perk is meant to give you greater knowledge of the battlefield that others may not have.
3. Shattering Strike: not really a pvp perk, but I hear it’s quite nice in pve. I would actually suggest keeping your distance during Flawless Execution as apposed to trying to get into a melee fight.
4. Spectral Blades: This is probably the super that requires the most skill and discipline out of any other in the game. It’s not meant to be used in the manner such as arcstrider. I’ve found that it is really only useful for winning small encounters that may otherwise have been a loss. It’s also best used preemptively to seek out the enemy as apposed to repelling them as they fall upon you. I will say however that I was blessed enough to have the Gwisim Vest drop for me. If you have this exotic then congratulations, you can now actually have fun with spectral blades and get more than two kills. The time difference is incredibly noticeable, and the Super is now an actual super. It especially works well for places like The Citadel where you have areas to bob in and out of to confuse your enemy.
So those are my little tips on how to run spectral blades. Do I think it needs a buff? Yeah, or at least some readjustment.
1. Hit detection comes first. It’s actually pretty easy to juke out blades as it is, so not hitting the enemy when you’ve clearly hit the enemy is salt in the wound.
2. Duration. Period.
3. Purple haze on the enemy’s screen. Either have a stealth super or don’t. It’s a bit of a kick in the nads when you sneak up on the opposing team from the perfect angle only to watch them all look over to the entrance you were about to take because they noticed where the haze is most prominent. I get it’s supposed to obscure you during cqc, but if that’s the case then it does a very poor job.
4. Armor... later. I think we should see how it performs with the initial 2-3 problems fixed before calling in an armor boost. Cqc is hard in this shotgun meta leading to Blades just being easily countered.

I like it Definitely needs more :)

Sound advice but I can't tell u how many Hunters I've wiped out while they're in this super. Nova bomb ...dead Arc beam....dead Sentinel ....dead Dawn blade .....dead Failing having my super I use my Rocket launcher with tracking and cluster bomb, It's a weak super in my opinion.

As much as I love Spectral Blades, and the new Wraith subtree as a whole, I still want Bladedancer back.

1 ReplyWhat if they gave the spectral blades the ability to jump on a bosses back? Turn invisible run behind a boss jump hit R2 then wail on the boss with R1

2 RepliesI haven't used Spectral Blades in pvp yet, and I just made my Hunter, but I can think of a few things I already don't like about Way of the Wraith: 1.) I feel like the class should be more properly built around disappearing and striking the enemy as they're not expecting it, and that smoke bomb melee feels out of place. In my opinion, it should be an extended distance melee that triggers disorienting cosmic gas on enemies and does bonus dmg when attacking from behind. Hold R1 to cloak yourself, increasing movement speed. (Duration of 8 seconds) 2.) Spectral Blades needs an armor increase and a base duration buff alongside more damage in pve. Attacking while cloaked should increase the damage you do, especially if you attack from behind. 3.) Flawless Execution should trigger from regular precision kills, melee kills, backstabs and void ability kills. It should also increase movement speed and melee damage. A backstab or melee kill while under Flawless Execution should reset the duration (15 seconds). The hit registration also needs work, and I've noticed an issue with fasting hitting melees, increased lunge distance and lunging in general. It moves your character over the target, so I'd suggest giving a bit of an aoe in the area of the swing so that anything in that aoe gets hit. Also, they could work on the third person camera, so that it stays more focused on your character when moving quickly and lunging at an enemy.

You make some good points dude. I made a post on this forum about the buffs i think it needs and you pointed about a very important fact that I think needs to change. The high skill gap and required discipline, in most cases, a new destiny player cannot pick up this subclass and do well with it, and im talking from experience, i talked 2 of my friends into playing and we all decided to go wraith becuase it looked cool with the ninja theme and because of the subclass , they quit because they hated how weak the subclass felt. The skill gap is too high, I can comfortably proc flawless execution at will because I can land my precision shots while crouched but not everybody can do that, some people have a hard enough time landing precision hits as is, let alone precision crits while crouched when your mobility is severely limited, and everybody knows when you cant consistently proc flawless execution this super with one of the best neutral games becomes a super with one of the worst neutral games. Compared to the other subclasses, there is a serious lack of synergy in this one. You also left out a very important weakness of the super. The movement speed and lack of blink ability. As a melee super that has a shorter range than arc strider in my opinion this super should have been the fastest moving one or the one with a blink ability, but the issue is you have 0 movement speed, you legit move at the same speed in super as a normal guardian, and like you said even when you do everything right and sneak around because of your tiny stubby legs and your mist that gives you away people always see you coming. Also keep in mind that even though this is a stalker super because of the short duration and how some maps are it is impractical to try and flank an enemy because you know if you take the long route, your super will run out before you even get close to them so there are situations where you have to try a frontal assault or a side assault and once again because of the movement speed, you get mowed down. I cant tell you how many times i did everything right but because of how slow i move, people see me coming and i get one shot by a super or some heavy.

Yay! I like these suggestions. As a fellow Spectral Blade user, I'd love to see the Super getting a small buff.

2 RepliesI have a big tip don’t use it.
