A. Could be a glitch
B. Bungie stated they have basically manipulated with Gambit doing a catch up mechanic, could this be it?

We were losing horribly...lol. There were 3 blockers up, we were trying to kill those, they had the Primeval about half health and ban two more blockers drop out of the sky. Needless to say, I'm done with Gambit for tonight. Its been rough, but that was insult to injury.
