Anyone else just suddenly lost interest in this game?

I have 2 characters around the 550 mark and I was perfectly happy playing up until last Tuesday or Wednesday. After that I can't bring myself to put destiny 2 in my disc tray whatsoever😂🤔. I looked at the details for festival of the lost also to try bring back the spark to me but it just doesn't want to return. I think I'm actually quitting destiny without even having to try and bring myself off of it. Edit: Wow. First time trending😁. Thanks for all the mature feedback. I was expecting comments like "delete your characters and game and stop looking for attention" or the "git gud" trolls but no. There is some really interesting feedback. Thanks for that👍

  • Nope. Between Gambit, the Dreaming City, and a whole lot more, this may be my favorite 'destiny' moment. Number two was the Taken King, number three was House of Wolves, and number four was the first time I made it to the moon :) No time to explain further folks.

  • Yep I have. Especially now that Blops 4 is out. I hit 550 on one character. The leveling is so freaking slow and I feel like I should be level 600 by now. I’ve done the powerful gear every week since forsaken came out. I don’t mind taking a break from destiny to spend some time on blops 4. The content will be there when I hit level 55. The content isn’t going anywhere soon. And when Black Armory comes out if the power level is raised hitting the new cap will become the next challenge and I’ll fly right past what I would be working so hard for now. Especially when I’m 550 and my boots are 550 and powerful gear gives me 549 or something similar because it’s in the wrong spot or because their leveling sucks.

  • Also finding myself getting slightly bored too. Powerful engrams are crap and normally always end up in the same slot which already has a higher light than the drop. Prime engrams seem to be getting less and less. For example I played for 5-6 hours and not one prime. Exotics if they do drop are from year 1 and I can’t use them as the light level is too low. Forsaken was a step in the right direction and definitely better than the crap they gave us a year ago. (Still no D1 year 3 beater). I also see that the player base numbers are slowly beginning to dwindle away again. I played god of war 4 and that game had me glued to my console. Unfortunately D2 doesn’t have that same feeling. It’s a better game than what it was before but doesn’t have the “wow” factor.

  • Never really could get into D2 after a masterful ending to D1.

  • Give it a rest for a while, come back to it. It’s just burnout, it happens. Skyrim is probably tied for my favourite game of all time alongside Destiny, but I played so much of that that I haven’t been able to play a couple of hours without putting it down and not even thinking about picking it up for months. Destiny is a different sort of game, so burnout happens differently, but the concept is still there. Trust me, you leave the game for a while, maybe come back next DLC or during an event, or even after just a few weeks of other stuff, and you’ll love it again.

  • I'm in the same boat - my RNG has been so horrible its actually punishing and I've gotten to where I just don't see the point. Switched to AC:Odyssey and will probably play Tomb Raider next. Enjoying my limited gaming time more. Stupidly preordered the season pass (no, I never learn apparently) so I will be back for black armory when I hopefully won't need to go into the ascendant realm to have a whisper of a prayer at getting a power increase.

    • Loved d1 for the raids. It’s what kept me playing. Still trying to get my light level high enough for the first encounter because they bumped it due to people using some exploit. Thanks guys, appreciate. Not really bothered now.

      • Because there really just isnt anything to actually do in Destiny. The developers have constantly made previous content obsolete, and punished you for working hard to do mundane activities. You really dont get to choose what you want to do in Destiny if you want to progress your power level. Look at solstice of heroes armor. That was a chore made absolutely obsolete immediately on forsaken. You cannot get random rolls or the new masterworks on solstice armor. All year one gear is obsolete. COO and Warmind as well.

burnt out with 2 characters at only 550? Allllrighty then. Do some dreaming city stuff it will get your light up real quick. Then try the raid that is the best part of the expansion!

First off, I respect your opinion on this and I can see how the game feels grindy. For me, though, the grind is what I enjoy. As a casual player myself with a job, wife, kid on the way, I like the grind. To me, that is the game and that is the point. Honestly, I feel like we’re now more back in line with what was great in D1. I also think that the grind, plus the additional ways to play (ie everyone now has bounties, each type of activity - PvE, PvP, gambit - all have paths for powerful gear, even if sometimes we get screwed with something that doesn’t really move the needle much, and the raid is good again) is what makes this game great again (before this DLC, my friends and I kind of gave up on Destiny). Also, and maybe I’m sick, but I don’t like exotics and other good gear raining for the sky (not to say this is what you are asking for, but I personally feel that’s how it was before). I tied for a while to get the EP shotgun and it was absolutely frustrating to continually not have my time investment rewarded. That said, I eventually got it and the intrinsic value of that gun is so much higher for me now than if they were a dime a dozen. In prior DLCs, I found that it was much easier to get good gear but that the flip side was that it came so easy that the value of that piece of gear didn’t last for me - I didn’t feel like I really had to work for it. I still remember grinding for the Fate Bringer in D1. I rarely used anything else once I got that gun and I feel like some of that is back now. Just my point of view...

      • Especially given the anemic laggy repetitive stuff like Crucible and Gambit. 80% of my Gambit matches are excessively laggy like one is wading waist deep through sewage. And as soon as an invade comes over, it plays like some stop motion animation movie. Bungie needs to admit they are wrong that their broken Halo era Peer to Peer is not good enough and get Regional Dedicated Host Servers.

      • Yeah, I hit 600 on my hunter yesterday, I've already finished the quests for all the exotics, I'm not really interested in the lore, and I can't build up the willpower to grind another character up to 600. The low drop rate of exotics combined with the high chance of duplicates has made them not worth farming for. So right now I guess I'm going to log in once or twice a week for a few hours to raid and that's it, until something changes or I can build up the willpower to level something else.

      • Pretty easy to lose interest. It's literally jumping and shooting aliens. I play very slowly, maybe an hour a day or so. Still not to 550 on any character so I have plenty left to do. But for those who spend hours a day, I can see getting bored quickly.

      • I just deleted it again. Came back for forsaken, got to like 535 or so then realized it’s just the same game destiny has always been. Plus I want space for all the good games coming out like Red Dead 2!

      • I work 12-16hrs a day 5-6 days a week, so I do not have the time to spend enough time on this game to get burned out.

      • Actually this week I thought to myself,” why do I play so much” it’s tuff grinding 3 characters when you have a career 50-60 hours a week, wife and kids, and work out regularly. I play a little every night after the family goes to bed and I only have a 570, 570, 540(warlock still haven’t opened dreaming city). Only new exotics are the quest ones and lord of wolves.

        • I haven’t lost interest myself. But I do try to pace myself. I set distinct goals and when those are depleted I take a break and come back for events. You can’t play this game without breaks. Essential to preventing burnout.

        • Lack of new exotics kinda bothers me. I don't mind them being rare, but one month to get 1 exotic drop. Meh
