Anyone else just suddenly lost interest in this game?

I have 2 characters around the 550 mark and I was perfectly happy playing up until last Tuesday or Wednesday. After that I can't bring myself to put destiny 2 in my disc tray whatsoever😂🤔. I looked at the details for festival of the lost also to try bring back the spark to me but it just doesn't want to return. I think I'm actually quitting destiny without even having to try and bring myself off of it. Edit: Wow. First time trending😁. Thanks for all the mature feedback. I was expecting comments like "delete your characters and game and stop looking for attention" or the "git gud" trolls but no. There is some really interesting feedback. Thanks for that👍

  • I’m getting there. The power leveling grind isn’t horrible but now the dreaming city is literally the only place I can get REWARDING gear it’s a little disappointing. From what I’ve heard and understand, after light level 580 the only POWER gear comes from the last few encounters of the raid. Prime engrams of course are still in play. While I don’t want destiny to change THEIR game, I can always change if I want to play it or not. I don’t hate this game or the way it’s setup but it’s the same old stuff, I hate crucible and don’t bother with it, Gambit is not fun for me and prefer not to play it. The level is pretty slow, my clan doesn’t seem to raid very often if at all. Maybe when the new dlc comes out it’ll have more to offer ME. Unlike others I don’t worry about or care what other people have. I play this game for me and only me so when I get to that point of monotonous boredom I occupy my time in other ways.

    • I’ve been playing about 1/4 of what I played for D1 time wise. I like Forsaken but the style of play that Destiny requires has worn on me, I play it when I get around to it and even then I have a difficult time finding the motivation to complete milestone/challenge tasks because they are so repetitive. The raids turned off a lot of my clan mates as well. We used to play D1 raids for hours on end but everyone just loses patience now because the raids punish everyone for a single players failures. D1 you could get by with occasional mistakes, but D2 is just constant wipes. The failures rotate randomly sometimes too, leviathan ruined our raid team because any single one of us could make a single mistake and it’s a wipe. Then a different person would make a single mistake and wipe. Over and over. I’ll still play, but it’s not at all a passion any more, it’s more of a faded pastime now. As far as raids go, we just can’t seem to bother trying anymore.

      • Well d1 kept me hooked for years I missed out on a lot of games then d2 came and holy shit did I miss a lot. Got to play all 9 resident evil games ps1 up until xb1 and played tomb raider and the batman trilogy. Fable trilogy. Man you miss out on a lot but now it's like meh. D2 kinda feels like a nuisance tbh

      • That's because the whole given purpose to the game is getting the highest power. They have never really put much effort into making content fun and varied enough to keep people interested. The journey is by far more fun than the destination. That's why I tend to just make new characters in games than keep playing the very few endgame activities. Take Pokemon for example. The whole aim is to "catch 'em all". The prospect is awful, so I never bothered because I find the idea of hunting them all down more tedious than simply exploring and challenging the gyms, then restarting with a new starter and a different team. And when the only endgame is usually a poorly balanced "battle tree" or like facility that imposes ridiculous disadvantages, it's just better to restart. Destiny is a lot like that, in that even if something is fun once or twice, or until you get everything something offers, it isn't very fun anymore shortly thereafter.

      • I still play but have migrated to Shadow of the Tomb Raider and am waiting on Red Dead 2. Those games are more of my "cup of tea," so to speak. I know very little about programming, game engines and what not. However SotTR has only been out since Sep 14th, and they've already had 3 patches (the last patch was about a week ago) to fix bugs or whatever else people are reporting. 3 patches for Bungie to fix things would take 2 years.

        • It’s still a good game, a definite improvement over vanilla...but I’ve lost interest mainly because of the infusion economy. I don’t want to play an unrewarding game, and for myself it’s unrewarding to be forced to have my Guardian waking around looking like a blooming idiot because I can’t infuse the gear whose look I like with higher Light gear because I don’t have billions of cores lying around. I’ll still jump on from time to time, but... Meh.

        • I've had a couple days like that where I have stuff to do but can't be bothered to do it, a large part for that for me is the throttling forsaken exotics bungie has been doing this whole expansion, I should of been getting these new exotic armour drops while I was playing these classes while there was a lock out on seeds I shouldn't have access to these exotics in the final 4 weeks of the expansion to extend the grind.

        • Yea, I was super psyched about forsaken. Don't get me wrong, I still think it delivered and is a great leap for Destiny, but I have no desire to play/grind it. I'm just over it I guess, still trying to get into again though.

        • I have three characters and at one point, I just say, "I don't want to play this anymore." So I play something else and get back to it later.

        • Sucks to see you and others go, though I can understand why a lot of you are leaving. I had quit about a month in to the original launch of Destiny II, and I didn't come back until I purchased Forsaken on release. So I was not here for all of the boring Crucible metas, the slow game and the death of Destiny as a whole during that timeframe -- fortunately Forsaken has reignited my love for the franchise, as well as the intensive lore Bungie has written, and the return of fun Crucible again. Hopefully those of you that are quitting will find the same kind of rekindling that I did! Until next time.

There's a difference between losing interest, and quiting. If you're losing interest, go play another game; burn outs are a thing, I've experienced it myself plenty of times. Go play something else, BO4 is coming out, I'm not a CoD guy but you may be. Go play that then come back and destiny might be fun again. If you're quiting, well, see ya dont wanna be ya!

            • Quite the opposite for me, I lost interest with CoO and Warmind and took a few months break, Forsaken however has reeled me back in for now i actually have something to grind for (damn you forsaken exotics) and i am loving the new subclasses, still have 2 to unlock on the Titan and 1 on the Hunter but by nex weeks end should have them all.

Were you expecting to grow old and die together with D2?

              • Me too.....I want to love this game and I've tried to love it but I think I will be done as well. I log in and I ask myself...."What am I doing"...."Why am I playing this"....I've started having to talk myself into playing it....and when I do play it feels more like a chore then a game....Doing my PvP milestone last night I just wanted it to be over....Time to un-sub and move on I think Red Dead 2 comes out on the 26th and hopefully that game will be as good as it looks....I still have hope for Anthem....Heck I'm even thinking about picking up COD again after a 3 year break

                • Why do some people get so black and white with this shit? You're experiencing a slump in interest, which is perfectly normal. It happens to everyone. Just take a break. You don't have to jump straight to "I've gotta quit now because this week I'm not feeling it."

                  • For sure, this is a great franchise but it’s to repetitive but I mean most games are so there’s that but grinding and grinding and grinding the same stuff everyday for crap loot is the boring part, hope the black armory is awesome.

                    • Play other games and play Destiny as a side hobby. That's what I'm doing currently while I play Divinity 2. :P All I can really do at this point is just level up my character, which just gets boring week after week. So, congrats Bungie on making me play other games. I honestly really appreciate it. I never had the time before, but now I do surprisingly. :P
