Feedback on progression and story

I hope that the developers are open to critism on their forums and read what I have to say. I am relatively new to the Destiny franchise and have to say when I first started I was having a blast the gun play is so much fun there is quite a bit of weapon diversity and alot of areas to explore. But the story lacks real gravitas within the game and so sought out a Youtuber named MynameisByf to get a more indepth look at the races characters lore so on but overall brilliant fun at this point. Forsaken is marketed during my playthrough with an emphasis that the story is going to be amazing likening to TTK and a whole lot of loot, everything that hardcore players wanted and I was googly eyed at the thought that the story was going to be more in depth and looked at alot more Im not much of a lore geek but I still like a game to try to reason with why I am there doing things. The game is released and it took me a total of 4 hours to complete the main content and the main reason was leveling through public events and killing things in the new area to which had pretty much no story or reason other than to get higher light level to complete the story. Thus overall it was more like 2 hours of rushed story at that and I was methodical when it came to the story, I paced it out so each character speaking had plenty of time to speak, I didnt rush from Point A to B and didnt skip one bit of dialogue! The barons felt like no addition to the story, simply a mini-boss with a different fighting mechanic you had to deal with, with almost no background to them, why they where in prison, what sort of tourment did they go through to get to what they are now? No reason to hate them or feel of vengeance and I loved Cayde6 shame he was just the map guy for the tower I would of liked to visit him alot more often in the tower before he went. Ultimately the barons lacked depth into the game apart from two of them the Fanatic and the Sniper with the snipers name forgetable at this point and maybe not even worth mentioning as just like all the other barons he has little to no background nor does the game give you a real desire to kill him apart from continuing the story. There felt like no justice for Cayde6 by killing the barons because there was no cutscenes, no real talking points with any of the Barons except the Fanatic who helped Murder my friend and seemingly the only reason why he is more memorable is becuase of his direct link to Aldrin Sov. You pretty much listen to the Baron's hurl abuse and say he had to die to be free but that isnt enough its nowhere near personal enough and thats what story is meant to feel like make it personal. After the second baron I was hoping for a lot more content on the story like a plot twist to lengthen the story because it felt like already I was getting close to the end and there was very little story except the starting mission.
Apart from the final story Mission of which is interesting but yet again no exploration on it, it just gives you a taste of story your left wanting more always more story and so far there is none. However it feels a lot more satisfying to end Aldrin than the barons.
Now I get on to my biggest grievance with the game and this is "The Grind." This is not a grind this is daily progression barriers. A grind is something you can continuously work at to gain ground and this is not that at all. The "grind" if you dare to call it such a thing is infact futile and soul destroying for me and deters me and possibly a lot of others from actually playing your game for extended periods if at all, you did a crucial thing right and that is by far the gun play but you so far have destroyed the hard cap progression and the story has been lack luster and gives a player almost no drive apart from the opening mission. Why should I as a player endourse your game when after dailies which take a couple of hours and feels less like progression and more like a chore or obligation to receive powerful/prime engrams for a chance that they drop an item that is more powerful than the one already in slot!? The one thing you have done well and you make irrelevant with everything else you have surrounded it with. I understand that there are casuals and you want them to feel relevant and even in my clan community some far more casual than me have a higher light level even though I have put close to 4 times the hours into the DLC content trying to complete weeklys, dailys and just try to grind for better gear but I didnt know at that point and as mentioned the grind is futile because it doesnt exist, to progress you simply need to login 6pm everyday and complete dailys specifically to complete the powerful engrams and prime engrams after that there is no point playing for most people. Please give me a reason to play this game and its future content as at the moment I am uninterested and contemplating returning the game simply for this latter point. I would like to thank anyone who has taken the time to read all of this feedback and I hope that it is taken constructively and do hope to get a response to the issues presented, I am also open to further explanation of my points to aid in any further feedback.

 • Their have never been an overabundance of cutscenes in Destiny games and while I think that hurts the game in some respects; it also makes it stronger. If you want to learn more about the universe without playing D1 you need to check out the Ishtar collective. The universe of Destiny is VAST, and the things happening to us right now are not the only important things to happen in that universe. The Battle of six-fronts, The War in the Reef, all happened when we weren't there, but they provide context and shape for the world. you may enjoy better once you have more context about why we do what we do. The world is living and breathing, we patrol it and put down the ever rising forces of the darkness. If you want to play destiny for cutscenes, you'll be disappointed... As for progression, Bungie has always done its best to slow down progression; frankly I appreciate it but I understand the "grind" or lack there of being frustrating.
