Because team killing isn't negative PR for the company, having a game where the community regularly uses slurs is. Especially with this game having pro league and shit. Nothing to do with actually making the game more fun or anything. Just PR bullshit.

  • Yes, because cleaning up a toxic community is only beneficial to the publisher.

  • Lol but that's the problem, they aren't cleaning up the toxic community. They're just removing people who say shit they dont like. I still get team killed all the -blam!-ing time, people still just abandon matches when they start to lose. People team kill for picking their character. Accidentally block the wrong wall TK, accidentally destroy a gadget TK. I cant do anything about that bullshit except live with it. I can however mute the dumb son of a bitch who uses racial slurs. So what toxicity are they -blam!-ing fixing dude?

Because you muting somebody isn't a solution to the problem. If they want to attract more players to the game while retaining the ones they already have, of course they're going to stop these dipshits from ostracising portions of their playerbase.
They're just removing people who say shit they don't like.
Which isn't a problem unless you're one of those abhorrent fuckwits calling strangers on the internet the N-word. Your thought process of "oh, well this one thing's broken so nothing can be fixed" is totally nonsensical. Yes—you can mute people; additionally there are also penalties in place for those who team kill and kill the hostage at round start. Though clearly neither are totally preventive—least of all the option (muting people) that presents no active consequences to the offender. Though just because there's one problem it shouldn't prevent another from being solved. I wonder if it ever occurred to anybody that maybe there's a correlation between team killers and shit talkers, and by eliminating one you're actually eliminating both.

  • I just dont think it's a problem man. I dont give a -blam!- what people say and actually, yes, muting people is a solution. If I'm offended I mute them. I dont need them banned, I dont need them removed from the game. If it's really bad I block them. But people can be just as toxic and shitty without using slurs or even swearing. And are they giving out perma bans? Because if not then it's literally just smoke and mirrors. A 15 minute ban isn't going stop people from saying shit like that. Just look at team killing and the abandon penalty, nobody cares, they gladly take the 15 to still TK and throw matches. That ruins my experiance far worse than some dumbshit spouting racist crap that I can literally turn off anytime I want. That's my point. They dont want people being racist fine, I get that, I dont want to listen to that shit either, and its their platform they can enforce any rules they want. But if they really want to battle the toxicity in the game, then they need to actually address the things that hurt gameplay, not just things that offend people. They've failed miserably to address the toxicity in gameplay, and to me this feels like they're doing something just because they need to be able to say "we're addressing the toxicity problem, look here at what we did to battle toxicity", not because it is actually hurting the game in any significant way.

You drive a good point. Furthermore, why is it ok to use any curse word under this punishment system? Why is calling someone a -blam!- rather than a -blam!-ing -blam!--rider elevated to a whole new plane of moral depravity? The end result is the same. The user is filled with hate and wants his recipient to feel that hate with words. It is inconsistent. The heart will project hate through team kill or chat logs. Taking away certain words will only inspire creativity for workarounds. Let the trash talking occur. Let the people mute when needed. Address the gameplay mechanics that are ruining our experiences that we can’t control. Bring us back to life after blatant team kills. • Yea censoring trash talk just isn't, IMO, the proper way to go about battling toxicity in the community. My telling someone to kill themself, while no where near as offensive, is just as toxic and shitty as dropping slurs.

Exactly. And who knows, maybe the receiver is dealing with depression and hearing that somebody suggests that he die could very nearly be a murder. Point is, people will be trash no matter the Avenue. Create consistency in bannables.
