Not so Powerful Engrams

Several times in a row now my Heroic Strike engrams are not rewarding me any significant Light level progression if at all. I'm consistently getting items that are for my higher level gear (sometimes the same slot over and over) rather than lower, essentially forcing my gear to be "min-maxed" and often making my powerful gear worthless as a result. For example, recently I had gotten some boots that were 367, but my current boots were already at 367. Same happened for a rocket launcher I had obtained, but the sword I was carrying was the exact same Light level so it was nothing more than infusion material for a weaker launcher. Not sure if this is affecting other powerful engrams but it's certainly a problem for the Heroic ones. Can we please fix this so Powerful gear prioritizes lower Light gear instead of the RNG min-max?

  • If I recall, you are , at your current power level, you are at a point where drops from certain events drop useless PL items. Are you playing with 3 guardians that are being leveled at or close to the same PL. You need to do Nightfalls and the occasional Raid (even if the raid is just the first part that drops powerful items) just tip the scale on the other side of Soft Caps. Also the closer you get to 380 the slower the incremental increases will become. ie like 1PL + on one or 2 of the items on your character.

    • Heroic Strikes no longer give you light boosting equipment after you hit a certain cap. Thank all the sweaty elitist people who bitched enough to motivate Bungie to break the mid-game.

    • If your boots are 367 after a +5 mod, a 367 boots drop without a mod is an upgrade.

      • I think the issue is that those few items are the only things pulling up your power level while others are significantly lower and the last few powerful engrams weren't enough to actually raise you past the softcap you were at. If what drops is the same item as your max highest power items that you already infused the last time, it can't give you something higher than what you already got. The only way to raise your power would be to raise the light on either your lowest power items through normal engrams or hope for RNG to give you an item that isn't one of the ones you've already infused a max power item into.
