Why put a wall on Offtopic/le flood?

I completely understand putting a wall on the Destiny forums. If you don’t play the game you shouldn’t be able to post baseless opinions. We had something similar on the Shishka days. But why the Offtopic/flood? The Offtopic has always been the most chaotic but yet most open forum of this site. We even lost our boy Recon due to this change (RIP Recon). What can we do to remove the wall?

  • They don't like people telling them the truth. They'd rather hide in their "safe space." So it's easier just to mute them altogether.

  • In this social climate of SJW mentality, censorship and harassment are commonplace. Open borders for the country and walled off sections on the internet. Hate breeders claiming to be against hate. If your words don't line up with socially politically correct guidelines, then you should be 'walled off'.

  • #Offtopv used to organize "wars" against #Destiny2 they'd troll the #Destiny2 section with troll post a laugh about it in #Offtopic.

  • I just had a thought. If taking down the wall is not negotiable. Would it be possible to give a pass to members that have an account older then 2 years? That way you’re not alienating older members that enjoy the community but don’t have the newest game.

It was a bullshit move to ensure that the only people using the ENTIRE website had purchased the most recent Bungie release. It didn't matter that so many of the topics not related to Destiny were being populated by people who had been here for over a decade. It didn't matter to Bungie then, it doesn't matter to them now. There was a work around where you could download the trial and play to the Farm to gain access to the forums, but I can understand how forum users might take the "-blam!- that" approach after being snubbed in this way. It's all bullshit.

    • Mr. Bungie TARE DOWN THIS WALL. Your pushing out community members that have been here from day one. You have nothing to gain by walling off the the whole forum area and only lose traffic and users by doing this. yorkie

        • By virtue, #Offtopic should have no access restrictions on it... Full stop. It has nothing to do with Destiny or Destiny 2, and this has been proven by the fact that Mods and Ninjas have moved threads from #Destiny subforums to #Offtopic because it had absolutely nothing to do with Destiny. Now it seems, Bungie don't want anyone accessing their forums that don't actively use their products... Which is both good and bad depending on where you sit. At the end of the day, Bungie has/had fans that formed a community in #Offtopic, a community even Bungie themselves have praised and held up on many occasions, to now maligning them because they didn't support ONE game. What Bungie fails to acknowledge, is that while those who were purged didn't play/support Destiny 2, they were in some way still supporting Bungie simply by being active on their forums. It's like saying "We know you like watching TV, but because you didn't buy a certain OLED TV, you can't watch any broadcasts any longer".

Do what you and countless others have. Make threads about it. Not sure what it will do though. I have no idea why people shouldn’t be able to post in the Flood just because they don’t have Destiny accounts. This isn’t exclusively a Destiny site, it’s a Bungie site. Well I thought so anyway. All this does is flash a big IDGAF to vintage Bungie fans. Like Myth? Like Marathon? IDGAF, buy Destiny or go elsewhere. But why!? Will wait for reason... Tbh, I won’t even go as far you OP. Restricting the Destiny forum to current players RESTRICTS POTENTIAL NEW PLAYERS FROM INQUIRING ABOUT YOUR PRODUCT ON YOUR SITE.

            • Gaming should be open too, considering it's for talking about games that aren't Destiny...
