So much salt on these forums about the Colony. Yes, I've been using it to earn my 100 power weapon kills iron banner chest ornament in a timely manner - I am aware it is a no skill scrub weapon, but...
It's a no skill scrub weapon because y'all aren't even trying to survive!
OMG, I see 2/3 guardians huddling in a control zone and I let loose 3-4 seekers... AND YOU STAND THERE AND LET IT HAPPEN. You're looking RIGHT at me. You SEE the seekers. Half the time nobody even tries to juke at all, but instead freeze like deer in the headlights waiting for oblivion. And then I bet you come onto the forums and complain about Colony. Holy geez, I wish I could get y'all to stand still when I come at you with a shotgun or a sword or a fusion rifle.
Things you can do to survive a Colony attack:
1) Run. Whatever direction you're facing, just sprint in that direction. The seekers don't track very far, and they don't take long to decide who/what/if they're going to track at all. If you run as soon as I shoot, there is a decent chance the seekers won't even lock on to you at all.
2) Avoid walls and boxes. Like an earthquake, go to an OPEN SPACE. Do not back up against a wall or a box - the seekers love walls and boxes. The seekers hate open spaces.
3) Jump. If you're a titan or a warlock (not running blink) you should basically never be killed by the colony, unless I catch you in a tight corridor. Your jump outlasts seekers. Hunters... sorry, but still, use that triple/strafe jump right and you will certainly avoid ONE seeker and might avoid two, forcing me to shoot 3 or even 4 to actually score the kill, and making me waste power ammo is good in the long run.
4) Team shoot me. I probably waited to shoot until I had EYES on you, which means you have eyes on me. Kill me. Emptying the Colony mag is not as effective as staggering the shots, and if you're paying attention, you can gun me down when I've only gotten 1 seeker off, and you can survive one seeker.
5) Throw an AOE grenade between us. Pulse grenades, vortex, solar and thermite grenades destroy seekers.
[EDIT: 6) LISTEN. The gun makes a distinct sound you can hear half-way across a map, and the robots make a distinct sound you can hear with at least a second of warning (if they're crawling). Watch the newsfeed - did somebody load a grenade launcher? If yes, listen for the Colony, listen for the skitter.]
There you go, hope that helps your blood pressure a little.
[EDIT 2: Childishly, I went ahead and checked the PVP stats of every single one of the scumbags that left negative feedback to this thread, and, amazingly, only 1 had better PVP stats than me, and him not by much. And I'm an admitted scrub. Which just makes them angry losers, not even scrubs.]

Maybe I have a robot fetish...

<Running simulation Combat/PVP_scenario> <Applying asset Colony> <Applying action Jump> <Generating results. . .> <Survival rate:mediocre>

Haha, Dawnblade wins again! (I prefer dawnblade in these scenarios because of the higher potential air time and control while in air. Also solar grenades.)
-
Secret option 7: Just shoot the damn grenades! Works for me.

It’s suspending how little people try to jump over seekers. Even when you fire a normal grenade launcher or rocket people don’t even move and it’s hilarious.

Accurate post and spot on. I LOVE getting cheap kills with the Colony, but have nobody to blame but myself when the shoe is on the other foot. I have to say- this was a FUN weapon to use when it was new and few people knew how to counter. Used to be able to just fire off a spider🕷 in the General direction of a red radar spot and get kills around corners without ever seeing the enemy. I felt a little guilty at that time (but only a little... 😉)

Sorry...stopped reading at “OMG”

Dude, I hate this gun as a hunter. It is nearly unavoidable. You have to run away, likely into another gunfight. Or jump into the air and have no defense. I just think the seekers shouldn't be able to turn around if you get over them, They should miss!
-
Is this a bad place to say that xur is selling colony?
-
Not sure I understand the post. You mention that you played with an easy mode weapon and did great but then complained that nobody was countering your weapon? I don't see a downside here
-
3 works every time.

I dunno, I like my Fighting Lion & Origin Story Experience
-
I died by Colony for the first time in ages last night, after reading this post. I think you are inspiring people.
-
No skill. What ever. I am a no skill scrub and will use what ever gets me kills. PvP sucks anyway.

The Crucible is manipulated. There are periodic aim-assist, and hit detection changes, that go back and forth between each team. This is best demonstrated by the seekers that The Colony shoots. When you're on the team who's aim assist is blunted, you can shoot all 4 seekers at a group of enemies that are 5 feet away from you, and watch the seekers randomly scatter, never locking on to a single enemy. They'll also only last about half their normal duration, before randomly exploding. I actually use The Colony a lot (sorry, but it's there to use), and I've watched this happen several times. During those times, You don't have to worry about them much at all.

They are not standing because of lack of skills, the kids left online are watching a youtube video during the match
-
Shh shh just let it happen
-
As a scrub it's my civic duty to stand there and take that death like a true scrub.

Edited by Mr.Shickadance: 6/23/2018 1:30:53 PMWorks great for that 100 power weapons kills. If they are gonna use GL and VW why hate on Colony? Old Fashioned Requiem-45 Colony Great all around setup ADD: I guarantee if Colony was just a legendary you would see nothing but GL / Colony combos.

I can't hear the buggers...dont wanna turn off Zep to listen to the Tv or to that annoying salad guy.
-
That gun is almost single handedly running the crucible for me. It is the most non skill gun ever introduced to any multi player game. It needs to just be completely removed from the game.

If you’re in a confined area like a hallway and run into a guy with The Colony, no getting away from that. Yep you can run and jump, and that can work. I’ve watched the seekers continuously follow a person while they are jumping though to end up perfectly under them when they land, so it’s not as simple as you’re making out. Especially if a guy pops round the corner with the gun, can be too late then. If you spot them further away it is easier. But yes, as soon as I hear that noise I start running if it is from longer range or start jumping for close range. But still, the seeking is very exact sometimes and you can’t just get away. Still feels like an ‘easy mode’ weapon for heavy kills. When I’ve used it I’ve always killed at least one person per heavy ammo pickup.

You can't call me a Scrub, I have yet to be killed in the Crucible!
-
I could care less, I've played PvP very little here lately. I've run into people using this, but it's not like it's insurmountable. Run away, jump, throw yourself on top of it to save the rest of your team. I don't think it should be nerfed. If it gets nerfed, it doesn't only get nerfed in PvP. We should talk about how to improve other weapons.

Just jump yo

Most of the times I get hit by it is because 1 I didn’t see it or 2 the one shooting (or me I guess) lagged and I got hit by nothing and went down. (Most times I am left at critical cause they finally die after constant fire from me and me shooting where I think they are going.) But being someone who had played GTA online, I know some ways of countering people who are lagging in a P2P game. Doesn’t always work but can’t win them all.
