A game's community should never be held accountable for a developers missteps. There will always be haters. Make the game YOU (Bungie, you know, the people paid to make games) think you should make. This was the wrong game, and it's on them, not us. Now they're scrambling to fix the mess THEY made. We're discontented because they have no idea where they're going with this franchise. Progression is a mess. Balance, mess. Lore, mess. They need more accountability. I don't MAKE games, but I know I don't want to PLAY this one. That's their fault, not mine, or yours former fellow Guardians!

  •
Even if the missteps are a direct response to the community's request?
Yes, that's on Bungie. They write the code. They decide what feedback to implement. Yes. 100% yes. All decisions, good or bad, are on Bungie.

  • I doubt we can change each other's view of it - so i'll just politely and respectfully say, "I disagree"=)

There's really nothing to disagree about. The people in charge are the people responsible.

  • Can't have it both ways. Can't complain for them to listen to the community, and complain that they did listen to the community.

  • Exactly. But it’s a shame some folk still want to blame the community.

  • Bungie has never done anything Bungie didn't want to do except tone down the cash cow eververse. It has always been play bungie's way because it's 'their' game. Player feedback has resulted in minor adjustments which Bungie regularly did anyway to 'freshen' the meta.

  • This is nonsensical... Do you just want them to ship you a dev-kit with the in-game assets and data dictionary for the engine?

  • No it’s definitely the casual’s faults. They bitched and moaned all of D1, so Bungie finally caved in, and look where it got us. Now the Live team is realizing “Oh. Casual’s aren’t shit.” And are fixing the game back towards D1’s style. A good idea in any sane person’s mind.

  • You don’t seriously think it was casual players moaning in D1 surely. You can’t be that blind. It was the Trials players that ruined all of that. I’d venture that the vast majority of casual players don’t even use the forums. Why would they.

  • I’m beginning to wonder that myself. I played the shit out of D1 but still consider myself I casual because I never went flawless or got flawless raider, couldn’t solo raids and pretty much suck at PVP. I still always hit level caps fast and got all the loot the game had to offer though. Is a casual someone who plays for an hour and achieves everything they set out to that week? Because even D2 isn’t that casual.
