Instead of fixing the Raid and Trials and making them good like D1 (because they suck now and player numbers on a weekly basis are low), they tie progression to them so people HAVE to play them if they want to progress and hot max power, an obvious and lazy development tactic to increase activity numbers without doing any work AT ALL!
That is the Bungie way!

That’s how they suckered everyone into playing VoG right
-
You don't have to play them to hit max power, it will just take longer to hit max power if you don't play them.
-
Why is it that people cannot read the TWAB properly when it clearly states that you don't have to do the Raid or Trials to hit max power, it is just slower than those who do the milestones and the raid and trials.
-
Edited by Risky: 4/23/2018 4:46:18 PMso Hard cap only matters in a few select activities. to reach hard cap you may have to play those select activities. but if you don't play those activities you wont be affected by the lack of hitting hard cap. ...so the people who don't want to play those activities wont be affected by hard cap and are complaining about not reaching hardcap. WHY?
-
you tell em, we don't want hot max power!
-
But... that's how it was in D1.... You had to play endgame activities to reach max light.
Isn't This What everyone wanted??
-
if they are doing that, we better get INGAME LFG/matchmaking optional... is stupid going to my pc to look for a party to play on my console.
-
Did you read TWAB? It says,
"Once you’ve achieved the soft cap, your progress is going to rely a lot more on your own achievements..."
so I doubt you HAVE to play either to hit the top... it'll just take longer without those two activities, but it's not impossible.

Edited by RORYWAN13: 4/20/2018 11:03:48 AMIt will backfire badly if thats their goal. D1 Alpha solo player here - I solo'd hard mode Crota - no cheese. The player base is empty right now - pages of grey clan and friends lists. Luke Smith hates solo play - "Do it my way" but I had hoped his -blam!- up with D2 has removed that but maybe not. He was even forced to admit at the D2 launch event that the majority of players don't raid - add that to the current player base and it's another disaster in the making - well done Bungo.

Have I just misread the TWAB (very very likely so please explain if I have), or did Bungie say that all the raid and trials would do is make it easier to hit maximum light, as in you would hit it quicker. I was under the impression NF and Flashpoints would still eventually get you to max light, just slower than raids and trials. I would be perfectly fine with this being the case, as the “most challenging” activities should reward the best increase in light.
yes I know I wrote 10x more for that than I needed to
-
It would be more appropriate to say progression is being reset to stretch out content until September where they have the opportunity to extort a content starved community. It's D1 all over again and I am disgusted by Bungie's lack of ethical buisness practices.
-
In D1 people had to play them. Imo the raid is no worse now, there's just no incentive to play it if clan engrams you get for not even playing and gear you get from public events is the same. Y1 D1 the only way to max light was IB or raids. And light level actually did something. Hence people played said activities.

I dunno I actually liked Leviathan and EoW
-
Yeah, this game sucks (with thanks to DaBest.)

Edited by Smough: 4/23/2018 1:40:21 PMDestiny community: Hey we want end game to be more about raids and less about public events, and we also want light levels to actually make a difference. Bungo: Alright we’ll make it so you need to raid more if you want max light, since the raid is end game content, and we will make light level matter more. Destiny community: THATS NOT WHAT WE WANT BUNGO YOU RUINED THE GAME REEEEEEEEEEE
-
Mmm...hot max power..... Steamy even.
-
Why would loot changes bring people back to these activities. Forcing people to play them is obviously the only option here.
-
Edited by DredLaP: 4/22/2018 4:27:58 PMThey will need better and more fun raids. Leviathan could have fatebringer, black hammer, found verdict and gally, and Id still stay away from that garbage raid. I do think the best rewards should come from the hardest game-modes. I just think they should have a few more game-modes than nf, raid, trials. Maybe add 2 more ways of getting the best gear and LL. Make them 1-3 player modes and be very difficult.
-
Too bad no one wants to progress in a game that isn't worth playing.
-
Edited by mxgreg: 4/22/2018 5:03:40 PMa) I'm not going to play trials. b) If D2 has taught me one this. it's that light level doesn't matter, you just need to be close to the minimum requirements. Sometimes things are actually harder when you hit max light, so there's no benefit in chasing it... c) in D1 we would rush to level up to do the RAID, NF, IB, but in D2 HM is just stoooopid and the one raid we have is not fun. So why even worry about chasing light level. Without having some way to progressively make your character stronger the game is going to be dead. It was the one thing all players had in common, love it or hate it. Everyone was always looking to find interesting weapons and better armor stats, etc. for end game activities. The only positive thing with the coming DLC is we'll have a new PVE mode like forge / court. If we can earn bright engrams quickly from this game mode that would be a win. But I think they have dug a hole that will be hard to climb out of.
-
Only the hardest content in the game should reward you with the best content in the game.
-
The truth about the upcoming progression changes is your biased opinion? What a shocker.
-
Wait! You mean they made endgame activities the way to progress to max? What a bunch of idiots. People should always get maxed doing starter content.
-
It is a method of stretching out a complete lack of content. Easy to see through it if you want to. You won't see that on the streamers info though cause you know their pay check is tied to the 500K players left riding this sinking ship.

If this was in D2 when it came out maybe I would’ve played till the end of 2017 but now it’s just not worth it.
