(Insert crimson days lootbox clickbait title here)

No one probably cares but when I saw the recent Crimson Days post I thought of another game that I play in tandem with Destiny and its incoming free event. Overwatch. Now now, I know this is the Destiny forums and the games are INCREDIBLY different, but when looking at their free events and the community responses, I just wanted to put out the info comparisons because I think it’s interesting. Ok, so since this Destiny forums I’ll explain what the new Overwatch “Year of the Dog” event includes. The new event also launches on the 13th of February. It will add: -A re-tweaked, old game mode that was previously introduced in a previous free event(2017’s Year of the Rooster event) -A new map -New customizable loot in the form of sprays, voice lines, and skins. This loot is purchasable or able to be earned though Normal XP gains from gameplay or by reaching your weakly goal of 9 wins in Arcade game modes. The loot is made to prevent duplicates. You won’t get duplicates unless you have all other items of the same rarity. Basically think of it like this, if you had all exotic emotes from Eververse and you got another exotic emote from the box, you wouldn’t get that legendary emote that you don’t have, you would get a duplicate exotic emote because that’s of equal rarity. However, receiving duplicates gives you currency that you can spend on a specific item. Now for Destiny 2’s new free event, Crimson Days, also coming February 13th. It includes: -A new re-tweaked event added in a previous free event(2017’s Crimson Days) -A new map -New customizable items in the form of ghost shells, sparrows, emotes, shaders, and ornaments. These are not purchasable and can only be earned through XP gains. Certain items will be earned through milestones/special activities. There is a loot lock out to prevent duplicates, which applies to all rarities and drop percentages. When you receive a duplicate, you can dismantle into dust to buy a specific item. Just wanted to point out these similarities, other than that this post is pretty pointless. The one other thing to say is that despite the fact that I think Destiny’s event is better from just a content perspective(with a better take on the micro transactions), I noticed more negativity towards this event from these forums, granted lesser than the previous, than Overwatch’s community(from what I’ve seen) did to their event that is basically the same thing. Oh, and both of these games are technically owned by Activision/Blizzard. Any one have any reasons as to why Destiny’s events get more hate, in specific this one, despite them sharing similar amounts of content to other games with free events. I’m genuinely curious.
