Finally stumbled upon the HDR setting as well last night.
I'm guessing its turned off by default because its not working right.
My monitor is a SUHD 4k Samsung JS7000 with PS4 Pro and am having the same "rainbow" effect when enabled and no brightness control when the picture comes back. I was super excited that I found the tab at first but now just frustrated again... HDR works on Horizon Zero Dawn so its not a hardware/ software incompatibility.

Thanks I found it too because of your post. I have the same issue, the bright flash of rainbow colors than HDR looks good but a touch too dark. I just went to my tv setting and bumped up the brightness. Looks good.

Edited by Kevdood83: 12/16/2017 5:04:06 PMYeah the rainbow flash worries me, I’m worried it could damage my Samsung panel. Perhaps that is an issue specific to Samsung TV’s? Every other game I play in HDR (Madden 18, BF1, H0D) they all cause my TV panel to power off for a second or two when safely switching from SDR to HDR. But Destiny does this rainbow flash the power doesn’t cut for a second as it should. They really need to fix all of this. I just went back to playing in SDR since it’s too dark and that rainbow flash happens each time I boot up the game... It’s not worth ruining my TV. I hope they patch this.

im getting the same issue and i dont have a samung tv i have a Hisense HDR 4K TV. it only happens with destiny 2 as well. when i switch on HDR i get a rainbow effect and i cant turn the brightness up or down.

Good to know, thanks (well not "good" for us necessarily, but at least I know its not my TV brand). I tweeted them a video of the rainbow flash whenever I boot up the game, but they arent responding on Twitter (not to me anwyays). A person from Bungie did post in another thread on this issue that Bungie is "looking into it." So I guess its good they're aware, but unfortunately there is no fix. I'm worried the rainbow flash will damage my TV, so I just went back to playing the game in SDR. I'm too nervous I'll ruin my nice new TV. I really hope they fix this. It's super-lame that us PS4 gamers still dont have HDR that works. Hopefully their 3rd patch attempt to get HDR to work on the PS4 finally fixes things.... 3rd time is a charm, right?
