Bungie, We Need To Have A Talk...(Part 1: Feedback/Communication)

KingNate/Nezarec here. Today, I want to talk about community feedback and communication. A few weeks ago, you posted about “The State Of D2”, and how you were going to try to look at community feedback and communicate. First of all, if you have to say that you’re going to start paying attention to feedback, that means you weren’t before, and that’s messed up. Also, what you think of as “communication” may not be the same as your community’s perspective. Personally, I was expecting you to start replying to our posts, and joining the conversation. I haven’t seen a single Bungie reply in months. Also, based on how updates have been going, it doesn’t look like you’re adressing community concerns. Don’t “fix” things that don’t need fixed. Or more, pay more attention to the large issues. Listen to your community, and see what they’re putting first. I don’t care if we go a whole 1-2 quarters without a large content drop for D2 at this point. I would MUCH rather see many updates to fix the game’s core issues than more content added into a broken game. You’re losing your core D1 playerbase. Destiny 2 has little to no incentive to complete the Prestige Raid or to go Flawless in Trials, besides cosmetics. This is a whole other issue I’ll touch in another post. Back to what I was saying, D2 just doesn’t feel similar to D1. It’s less eventful, there’s less to do, less gear, less interesting content, etc.. When you make a mistake, own up to it. In “The State Of D2”, you admitted to your mistake, but never said sorry. That’s what the community wants to hear. Bungie, all it takes is a simple,”We’re sorry.”, to start earning back the trust of your community. Almost nobody believes in you anymore. I’m sorry, but this string of feedback posts is my last strand of hope for this game, and the company who makes it. Bungie, god have you changed for the worse. When I joined this game in summer 2015, I instantly fell in love with the gameplay and compelling story. The art and music were great. The combo of FPS and MMO was astounding. But then D2 released. It was just too many steps down to handle. Bungie, this is my last strand. I love this game, and it is terrible to see it come crashing down. This comes not from a salt mine, but from the heart of a passionate gamer that truly cares. This is it, Bungie. Take back your reputation, and earn back your respect. If you see this, I would like to see a reply to this post... Lovingly, KingNate/Nezarec...

 •
When you make a mistake, own up to it. In “The State Of D2”, you admitted to your mistake, but never said sorry. That’s what the community wants to hear.
While I agree with the sentiment of your post, I disagree with this statement in particular. They indicated that they goofed up but they never came out and stated HOW they goofed up. It was really a vague and ambiguous statement that was wide-open to interpretation. And when your fans/community are waiting/hoping for fixes to big issues that plague the game, I don't think you can afford to leave them in the dark when you admit to making mistakes. You need to spell out the mistakes you did make so that the community can actually see that you (you meaning Bungie) actually received and UNDERSTOOD what we have been communicating all this time. And in my opinion, they still haven't. I think before progress can be made they need to admit that they can't move this game forward with a unified sandbox anymore - or at least can't move it forward and have PVP play as THEY desire it to play. If they make a statement like that, then only one of two actions make sense: 1) separation of PVE from PVP or 2) allowing PVP to play fast, chaotic, and semi-unbalanced like it did in D1. They need to admit that the rewards for the games hardest content DO NOT justify the effort it takes to complete those activities. If they do this, the answer is very clear on what they need to do: 1) Increase the quality of the rewards so that the best stuff comes from the hardest content, OR 2) decrease the difficulty of the endgame content to be more in line with the quality of the rewards you do get. Yes, I understand option #2 wouldn't be popular, but seriously, if you want people to play hard content, you need to give them MUCH better rewards than ornaments, shaders, stickers, etc. Give us Y1-like guns that reduce grind in other phases of the game. Let us feel POWERFUL again. They also need to admit that the math just doesn't work for guided games, and ditch it as largely a failure for this game. If they do this, the only option is to open the game up for optional matchmaking for all modes. It's the right thing to do, IMO, and its a necessary step if we want to see TRULY elite-tier endgame rewards return to the game. I can go on and on and on regarding this subject, but you get the idea. Bungie is like an alcoholic, and until they can admit they have a problem and IDENTIFY the actual problem, they cannot even get around to creating good a solution to the problem. When they give vague and ambiguous answers concerning the nature of the problem, it just shows that they STILL don't quite get it. And its why I don't think you will see any meaningful changes anytime soon. Bungie will misinterpret or misread the community, and we'll get half-assed bandaids that don't bring the kind of changes this game needs - has needed really - since Day 1 of D1.
