Good evening everybody! This is Aifos coming to you alive from Dark Star.. Which.. I’m pretty sure is a black hole, so I have no idea how I’m coming to you at all, let alone alive!
Who doesn’t love a light hearted whimsical game? You run around, fighting adorable baddies, with silly plotlines like trying to reclaim a strawberry shortcake, from a band of thieves.
Despite these happy little games being mostly whimsical, sometimes they have enemies, areas, etc. that are actually pretty creepy, or disturbing. Things we wouldn’t bat an eye at in games that actually are creepy, but are so out of place in these light hearted worlds, that they manage to catch our eye.
This is a thread about them! The slumulacras, the 0s, the Dead Hands, etc.
Tl;dr? Here’s my point!
Creepy enemies in not creepy games.
My answer:
0 gets my vote. More because of the fight, rather than the character itself. I mean, Kirby literally rips 0’s eye out of his head, and beats it to death with the power of love.
The entirety of the background story in Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles. It's portrayed as a happy-go-lucky hack and slash until you take some time to look around. The town who's caravan failed and they refused to give up hope as the slowly succumbed and everyone died, the fate of the black knight who lost his memories trying to save the world and has been reduced to a shell of himself unable to recall any of it, the final fight costing you your memories as you fight so if you lose, death would be preferable. This game was gold but so dark under the surface. I'd kind of like a remaster.

Play Spiral Knights! Adventure through a clockwork world! Battle slimes and robots that are also trees! Play with adorable little bird called snipes! Have your soul sucked away from you in a garden of obsidian by a beast known only as the Apocrean Harvester.
admittedly there are other creepy elements to Spiral Knights, but they’re almost all ones you need to work to find.
Edited by Upperclass Bum: 12/14/2017 3:39:04 PMNobodies in DMC. I hate the way they look, move, attack, sound -- everything. Unfortunately, they're one of the best red orb farms in the game, so you have to put up with them if you want to get stuff quickly...

Just finished Wolfenstein 1&2 There is some pretty intense scenes in that game
