Remember that Vanilla destiny didn’t have rolls in the endgame. You weren’t allowed to be max light with anything but raid gear, and those weren’t randomly rolled. Variety back then, didn’t exist.
I just want to point out that Vanilla Destiny was a bigger Turd than you make it out to be

I'm sick of this "year one Destiny sucked too" argument. Yeah, there were plenty of mistakes. The problem is that Bungie is REPEATING them all! They had three years to figure this out! They could have, SHOULD have rolled out a near carbon copy of D1 Y3 and BUILT on it from there! But noooooo, then they couldn't CHARGE US for all the game modes and gear they already made...

My “year one destiny sucked too” argument is to everyone who defends that crap. If you know it was crap and failed horribly than good but these people blinded by nostalgia need to get over themselves.

However bad D1 was it had something that kept people coming back. And no it wasn't anything like "hope or the promise of a better game" It was a solid raid system and plenty of gear to work towards. The eververse slot machine COMPLETELY destroyed that. Want a cool sparrow? DONT bother raiding, working on challenges! No! Grind public events for three hours and "maybe" you'll get one if the RNG loves you. If not, rinse repeat hundreds of times, ISNT THIS FUN??

I agree that the eververse slot machine needs to go but I dislike players that say the game is crap and just because you can buy stuff from eververse. Nobody is forcing you to buy them as they aren’t the only way to get stuff you want. Thank you for commenting you have bought out a lot of interesting points.

If not, rinse repeat hundreds of times, ISNT THIS FUN??[/quote] It was an awful raid system, lemme restate what it was: You were forced to equip all raid armor and weapons to reach max level, which made randomly rolled weapons redundant and everyone looked the same as a problem. The “cool sparrows” that came out of those raids are just piss poor recolors, they didn’t even have different models... The ascendant shard and energy system was so garbage people found it more rewarding to sit in front of a cave for three to four hours rather than complete a raid because you made so many more at the cave. I never had a reason to come back to Destiny after completing the story and raid until HoW launched, but even that had a number of issues. Legendary drops were as unexciting (if not more disappointing because dismantling them gave you motes of light compared to shards) as they are now. You already had the best rolls on your weapons, legendaries were just an extra source of motes of light which stockpiled pointlessly. The fact that people try to defend that garbage and call it better than this is just stupid to me.

I agree that Destiny's oringal light/level system wasn't that good. I belive that destiny 2 could have a better endgame if Random rolls were to return to weapons and armor in the game.

I can somewhat agree with that. Truthfully I miss systems like the gunsmith that had you using test weapons for reputation. Rolls were an incentive to play but I didn’t find it a way to call it “endgame”.
