Removing Base Game Content And Locking It Behind DLC
How do you have the gall to do this?
Currently, it is all over the Destiny Subreddit that you have now locked the prestige raid behind the DLC. In what world do you think it is remotely acceptable to take content from one of your games and force players to pay more money to unlock it again? You have taken what is supposed to be the most rewarding PvE endgame activity and forced players to pay for it a second time.
The biggest issue I have with this, is how it comes across as a subscription fee. PC players have had the game for 1.5 months and now they are being made to pay even more money, JUST TO PLAY SOMETHING THEY HAVE ALREADY PAID FOR!!!!
This is not acceptable.
You even took heroic strikes, something that was a part of Destiny 1 and every D1 veteran demanded was brought back, and made it a part of the DLC. How can you do that? Heroic strikes were expected by everyone to be a part of the base game, and instead you butchered the basic design of Destiny 1 and bundled it in seperate packages we need to pay for separately.
This is also unacceptable.
Watching all the exciting and interesting loot of the game getting locked behind lootboxes was bad enough, and incredibly unethical, and yet you have managed to take another step and take away content that players have already paid for.
What really takes the cake is that the base game is still costs the same amount despite you removing content from the game.
I am extremely close to getting a refund for this game, something I never thought I would do, and it's easier now because it seems like Microsoft and Sony are giving them away like candy. Hell I have seen examples of people asking for a refund and Microsoft and Sony didn't even need an explanation! That's how well know this issue!
I never thought Bungie would try to create a sense of pride and accomplishment by making everyone pay for the game a second time.
Fix this Bungie, or else you will see even more people drop your game, and if I don't see any responses or improvements soon I'll add myself to the list.

45 Replies"Locking" certain modes behind DLC is not only entirely expected (anyone who doesn't know how Destiny works by now should just go find another game) and completely understandable. What is not understandable is who are these people who want to play the prestige raid who don't want to buy the DLC. I refuse to believe there's a single person in that position. The Heroic Strikes thing is even more bonkers. It's being added by the DLC. You're saying everyone should get it without buying the DLC? Get real.

4 RepliesI just got the game like 2 weeks ago. And I do like the game I was debating whether to get CoO(wanted to wait cause I never completed a raid on d1 so didn't want to buy dlc yet). But now that I was just getting to the end game activity you lock some of it off? Wtf? Let me play the game I paid for.

After the whole EA scandal they must know that they can't get away with that sort of thing now without any sort of backlash from players. I think times are changing, shit has hit the fan and no way people will stand for this kind of thing anymore. Have some faith and be patient... or err, more patient? Lol. I did buy the digital deluxe edition with access to all dlcs and I DO NOT LIKE what they are doing with people who have not purchased the dlc. I feel bad especially for the pc players.

6 RepliesPeople are at each other’s throats in here a lot. If everyone put petty differences off to the side and worked together then real progress could be made. People SHOULD be asking for a refund, do it, and do it immediately. Unfortunately boycotting this game is the best thing for it right now. Bungie is like a crackhead and the díck riding fanboys are like the mother of the crackhead handing out money so they can go score some more drugs lol. Paying and playing only enables this kind of behavior.

There was a post today about it . Frankly there will still be weeks where activities are denied due to content . If I were a vanilla player I would still be far from happy .

Is it for the continued power-creep, or simply the enjoyment of it? Is it the powerful engrams for your maxed out light level character? What specifically is the reason you complete the nightfall and prestige challenges in general? Once you answer that, you'll realize that without the DLC it's literally pointless to do so...effectively, only the people that can now advance in light level to the new cap have any reason to complete, i.e. why want to complete it without the DLC? I feel like once you go through that thought exercise, you'll realize it's moreso a matter of "Do I want to continue playing this franchise game or not". If it's NO, then it doesn't matter either way. If it's YES, then you should buck up and support future development and purchase the DLC. It really is that simple imo.

This game is complete trash which is why they have no player base! I hate the fact they locked levels and power levels...behind dlc. I understand the content sure..but if you're going to allow people to have access to newer gear then give them the -blam!-ing levels too....bungie is a pile of worthless shit.

13 RepliesOne thing I discovered today on a gaming web site, the Legend of Acrius quest is now undoable to anybody who dos not have the DLC. The NF level strike fell into the 330 light level range, and if you want the ornament, well Prestige Raid has been removed. So basically, if you have not finished the quest yet, and did not get the DLC, that quest is dead to you and you will not have the ability to get a weapon that is part of the BASE D2 game. In other words, it was removed and is now only available for people who bought the DLC. Yes, because of Bungie's ToS they are allowed to do this as they see fit. I will say most game companies would never remove something and make inaccessible weapons, armor, etc from the base game for people to buy DLC. Great job continuing to spit on your players Bungie...

My god do any of you ever stop crying around here. This is an FPS with MMO like elements. When power levels increase, old content either has to be left behind, or increased as well to stay relevant. This is not new. This happened in D1. You cannot expect Bungie to push out new content and raise power levels and not raise content levels to match. Moreoever, given that 90% of you pathetically cheese the Prestige raid, and barely any of you can be bothered to run Prestige Nightfalls, I fail to see what the problem is. The content you are being locked out of most of you don't do, can't do without cheating, or won't do because you bitch about the rewards. I am on Bungie's side on this one. Yet another example of entitled crybaby bullshit.

I have just received my refund from Microsoft for the base game Destiny 2. I am from the uk so “Under EU rules, a trader must repair, replace, reduce the price or give you a refund if goods you bought turn out to be faulty or do not look or work as advertised” My reason was the prestige nightfall and raid are no longer accessible to me, it was that simple

4 RepliesThis is really a stupid thing. Everything that happened with the base game should be available with the base version at all difficulty levels. DLC should expand and not restrict the game content. Because the progression should be the same, even if not at all locations. I hope that this was just a program error on the part of Bungie. PS. I have a DLC and I believe that it should give access to what is related to mercury (locations and skins). But all that directly affects the gameplay must be removed from the game. After all, for the same reason, Mercury does not have its own raid.

The new stuff should only be for those who paid for it but locking players out of things they've already played and paid for is wrong. This is a new low for bungie here and I'm in total agreement with this post. C'mon bungie give people access to what they've already bought all players should still be able to play nightfalls and the prestige raid.

Reddit and the forums are a dumpsterfire, the community manager is too busy to tweet, and in their TWAB they don't acknowledge anything. The capping of exp was bad, but now you're taking away content from the standard release. As much as I love the IP that is a bridge too far, your greed has blinded you to the point that this game could be very profitable without all of these disgusting tactics. And for anyone who feels the need to defend your actions, just pause for 1 minute and think of a way they could have done a better job of mitigating these complaints, I bet you came up with several ways in that minute.

2 RepliesThey did the same in D1, I stopped playing just after HoWs dropped. I bought the Digital Deluxe with TDB and HoWs season pass. When TTK launched I found my content locked behind a £39.99 paywall. I did not pay it and I have never played Destiny since. I was hoping they would address this with Destiny 2, obviously they have not. It's a shame really, I loved the original idea of a ten year journey with my gaurdian growing stronger with each expansion. It's a shame Bungie no longer have that vision.

I’m fine with not having access to the so called “Osiris Quickplay” or “Osiris Competitive”, BUT LOCKING TRIALS IS JUST STUPID. What i have thought of is that Bungie, after selling millions of copies, apparently is too poor to keep up servers or just the game in general. Spoiler Alert: They are! :D I’m really sorry to say this , although I’m not the biggest fan of this game.

As somebody who only played Destiny casually with friends (some who bought the expansion and some like me who were not planning to) removing the endgame that we currently had completely kills the game. We can no longer play as a group. This needs changed back quickly or myself and my friends will simply never buy another product from Bungie. Not as long as we live. And I know for a fact we are not the only ones. You are killing yourself here Bungie
