They told us exactly what we are getting. What did they hype up? There was more info out on D2 before release than they ever gave us before.

 • It’s easy with hindsight to see that, it was not quite so easy at the time. A lot of what they told us was hidden in PR speak. For example, and I am speaking from memory and they may not have been the exact words, Bungie implied that they wanted to make the game more accessible. That could mean anything such as having having difficulty settings. They did not tell us that they were dumbing down everything.

 •
They told us exactly what we are getting. What did they hype up? There was more info out on D2 before release than they ever gave us before.
You're right, we assumed alot. We made the mistake of assuming they'd pick up where D1 left off. How dare we assume there would be secret quests. How dare we assume there would be a place to read about the things we've scanned out in the wild, ya know, like a codex? How dare we assume activities like Strikes and Lost Sectors would offer unique rewards, kinda like they did in D1 - remember how strikes, CoO, and AF did? How dare we assume that there would be gear that's difficult to acquire either through a difficult quest or low drop rate. How dare we assume that Exotics might actually feel worth the exotic slot and difficult to obtain. How dare we assume Raid gear would have perks useful in the raid. This is a sequel, it's only natural for players to assume it will elaborate on features from its predecessor. And given Bungie's propensity for not upping all the deets, you can't blame players for feeling that this game is a shallow version of D1.
Yes I can. There was a tin of info out there. BTW they did pick up where they left off.
There are no secret quests or raid quests like we've seen with TTK and RoI. They didn't tell us there would be no way to read about anything you scan in the wild. Have to find it again, and you must remember which one it was as they're not named. They didn't tell us that Lost Sectors would offer standard gear you can find anywhere else. Almost no incentive to do them more than once, if even that. They didn't tell us that Raid gear would as generic as everything else in the game. They didn't tell us that Friendship and Shaders would be the endgame. They did tell us that last gen was holding this game back, yet we get less features than its predecessor and a smaller vault. WTF?

 • There was a Raid quest. There is in game lore no more grimoire. The loot did matter until you maxed out and you can on occasion get an exotic. You don't need a bigger vault yet, every thing you get is a repeat. They talked about balance first, and the old Raid perks were useless after HoW launched. They have been systematically making this game more casual since Taken King launched if you don't see that you're blind. I agree that there was more features at the end of game one after 2 and a half years of uodates but after 2 and a half months in D1 there is far more to do in D2. What was so rewarding at the end of D1? Random weapons rolls? The games always been about playing with friends and after Taken King it was about collecting cosmetics.

 •
There was a Raid quest.
Fair enough.
There is in game lore no more grimoire.
So you're ok with scannables being relegated to scan and forget? There's no way to track which ones you've scanned or even to read/hear them in a particular order to put together any type of story. Just gives the feeling of "just kinda for something to do."
The loot did matter until you maxed out and you can on occasion get an exotic.
More like hit 260ish.
You don't need a bigger vault yet, every thing you get is a repeat.
According to the Design Lead Luke Smith, Destiny 2 is about collecting things, a "collection game." How can they not give us enough space hold everything in a game about collecting everything. Plus, is there really a need to limit vault space? Ps2 games had unlimited space, why can't we get this 2 generations later?
They talked about balance first, and the old Raid perks were useless after HoW launched.
Not true, they moved them to the armor, but the weapon perks still had value in the raid.
They have been systematically making this game more casual since Taken King launched if you don't see that you're blind.
Sure, but they went way overboard with D2.
I agree that there was more features at the end of game one after 2 and a half years of uodates but after 2 and a half months in D1 there is far more to do in D2.
Are you comparing Vanilla D1 to D2?
What was so rewarding at the end of D1? Random weapons rolls? The games always been about playing with friends and after Taken King it was about collecting cosmetics.
D1 always offered items to chase, many with fun, unique perks. And we still don't seem to have any decent social features that allow us to make new friends.
forgot to mention how they didn't tell us (and still haven't acknowledged) that there would be cooldowns on loot and XP, even though they have items specifically to help us find chests and increase xp gains...smh
• D1 had zero chase year 3 they gave us everything. Yes I'm comparing a new game vs a new game.

 • Lost sectors would be like mini strikes I never saw Raids. But to be technical there are 1 room Raids in other games.

 • They aren’t like raid or strikes... it’s a few weak enemies in a have and a crap prize.
