Long time Warframe player/experts

I've played warframe before but dropped it for a year or two because I was too into destiny. Now that d2 is terrible I'm checking out warframe again. Maybe it's because I'm inexperience or was too tired to focus at 2am but the game is very overwhelming and I don't know what I'm really supposed to be doing. So here's my questions: Is pvp worth playing and is it popular among the warframe community? How do I enjoy the game without having to deal with the micro transactions? How do I get new warframes and weapon without paying money for them? Should I really pay attention to the story aspect of the game or should I just view it as multiple places to just go and kill hordes of enemies? Should I join a clan? (that too feels overwhelming) How important is crafting? What's your favorite thing(s) about warframe?
I'm a beginner so please explain things to me in the simplest terms possible. Lol

I know I could just look these up on Google or YouTube but I rather ask you guys.
• In terms of PvP, I'd say just do Lunaro. Shit's fun as hell. Aside from slots, the only things you really need to buy with platinum are cosmetics.
And even then some can be aquired without it.
It'll be a grindfest for the most part, so I hope you like killing shit and being a loot hunter at the same time. I'd say somewhat focus on the story as it'll explain some stuff and give you access to things you can't access otherwise. Clans are useful as the market doesn't have the blueprints for everything. The clan dojo has access to all the stuff the market doesn't have pretty much.

  • the only thing that you "need" to pay for in game is warframe and weapon slots....however, you can just farm stuff and trade it to people for platinum....once you hit mastery rank 2....essentially, you will never have to pay for anything

      1.
Is pvp worth playing and is it popular among the warframe community?
Nah. I passed. No real reason to do it. 2.
How do I enjoy the game without having to deal with the micro transactions? How do I get new warframes and weapon without paying money for them?
See 3. 3.
Should I really pay attention to the story aspect of the game or should I just view it as multiple places to just go and kill hordes of enemies?
DO THE QUESTS. They're a great way to get good frames. The Nidus quest isn't difficult, farming his parts is relatively easy, and he's incredibly powerful. A decent way to make plat is doing vault runs.

Don't play PVP. The game mode sucks and was never designed to be centerpiece of the game. If you want a PVP heavy game go play something else. The game can easily be enjoyed without microtransactions. But if you can't enjoy it. Then it isn't the game for you. The majority of items can be crafted for free. If you spend like a minute in the store it will tell you how to craft them, use the wikia if you're unsure. Join a big clan, it isn't overwhelming. Just join and occasionally head to the dojo to pick up a blueprint.

    • It is an overwhelming game when you start. That's because they do a poor job of giving you direction. What I did when I got started was, I kept following the nodes that would get me to the next planet. See what was required to get to the next planet and worked on that. I also worked on getting the movement down. It was sooo fast when I started. It did take a bit to get use to, but now I fly through the levels. As your working on moving to the next planet your gonna acquire mats (materials) as you play and that's gonna help you build weapons and frames. This is a basic run down. Its easy to get overwhelmed so I didn't want to add anymore. Some of the replies you got are great advice too! I noticed some of those guys were guys that helped me, and still help me now if I asked. Btw...the only time I play PvP is when they have the snowball fight, candy cane whack em up, around Xmas.

Pvp is a hit or a miss, I enjoy it sometimes, but its pretty broken, and I only did it for a syandana (cosmetic cape like object) You can earn everything that is not cosmetic in game, there will be post mission drops, bonus loot stashes, alerts, invasions, sorties, and events which can give you other items from the store. It is also possible to trade platinum (micro transaction currency) inbetween players, so you can sell good stuff for platinum to get cosmetics without spending money. My trinity has about $30 of platinum worth of cosmetics and I didnt spend a penny You can acquire new weapons by purchasing blueprints and building them in the foundary, these require resources Warframes you can buy the blueprint in the store, but you need to farm certain missions for the parts, usually bosses Prime weapons and prime warframes currently come from "relic" void missions, you use a relic and collect void traces. After the mission if you get em all, you get a random prime part The story has times where you should pay attention, others you can ignore. My rule of thumb is pay attention to the cinematic ones Joining a clan would greatly benefit you since it will unlock a lot more gear and equipment for usage, BUT its not mandatory at all. If you feel overwhelmed, just dont its ok, but if you do there are plenty of casual clans that just play Crafting is super important, its how you get almost everything. Its usually like this for warframe Step 1. Get blueprint (resources as well) Step 2. Craft Step 3. Use weapon to get more weapons My favorite thing(s) is warframe is everything Destiny isnt Clans actually have functions and have for years More than 4 planets Diversity in classes PvE comes first 24/7 Unique diverse weapons Fashion doesnt impact stats Resources that actually matter Pets and sentinals Archwing missions Been playing it longer than Destiny now, mastery rank 22, Trinity Prime!
Is pvp worth playing and is it popular among the warframe community?
(Insert every image and gif indicating hysterical laughter here)
How do I enjoy the game without having to deal with the micro transactions? How do I get new warframes and weapon without paying money for them?
Simple, you farm your ass off. People don't call it "Farmframe" for nothing.
Should I really pay attention to the story aspect of the game or should I just view it as multiple places to just go and kill hordes of enemies?
That's really up to you. The game has a story yes, but some people like to act as though it's perfectly clear and not something along the lines of vague nonsense like Destiny or Dark Souls, but it is. Personally, the story is something I don't pay much attention to at this point and a lot of the much debated topics still haven't even been clearly answered.
Should I join a clan? (that too feels overwhelming
Clans in Warframe have different tiers and YMMV; (List is smallest to biggest) • Ghost • Shadow • Mountain • Moon Each tier has a set number of players that may join the clan (with Moon clans being the largest at 900). The resource requirements to build things in your clan dojo is also multiplied based on clan tier (google "Hema clan research" and you'll gain an understanding fairly quickly) I said "YMMV", 'cause every clan is different, regardless of tier. There are clans that want very active members and will kick players for not having logged in or contributed to anything in a bit (these clans, especially when they're Moon tier can often led to a "cog in the machine" sort of feeling if you aren't too active or extroverted) . There's chill clans that just want to, well, chill and too many others to list. I started in a Mountain clan, liked it for the most part, but eventually left 'cause some asshat deleted everything then left the clan and it was taking us way too long to get the ball rolling again. Ended up joining one of the biggest clans on xbone, Kokujin (or as I now call them, Kuckujin) and enjoyed it. I seemed to be doing something right as I got promoted quite often, but then some drama came about with one of the "literally who?" clan leaders that seemingly came out of nowhere (the clan leader that is, not the drama). Long story short, I wasn't having that bullshit, so I left. Tried to find another clan (preferably with another weeb clan emblem) then realized how jaded I was with the whole experience and made my own solo Ghost clan and it's been -blam!-ing great.
How important is crafting?
Very, especially if you don't want to buy anything.
What's your favorite thing(s) about warframe?
Fashionframe is the true endgame.

        • All pvp is is people running around with supa fast melee weps, its near impossible to hit people aswell. Its the worst pvp ever which is why it isnt the main focus.

Definitely join a clan, I don't think very many people play PvP, might be dead.

All you need to do is learn the market price of sets and start flipping them. Have made thousands of easy platinum in doing so. Find a clan that has everything researched. What do you play on?
So here's my questions: Is pvp worth playing and is it popular among the warframe community?
No. Bar the occasional conclave challenge for a blueprint or decoration, it’s not worth your time and effort and it is largely disregarded by the community.
How do I enjoy the game without having to deal with the micro transactions? How do I get new warframes and weapon without paying money for them?
By playing the game. There’s an in-game economy system to which you can participate in by: Farming relics from missions -> Opening relics in void fissure alerts-> collecting sets and/or rare parts of PRIME Warframes/Weapons and rare mods to sell to others. Keep in mind that it’s a free market system and I’m confident enough to say I’m your best source for market advice on b.net so ask away if you’re interested.
Should I really pay attention to the story aspect of the game or should I just view it as multiple places to just go and kill hordes of enemies?
The story doesn’t pick up until Nataah and The Second Dream quests. Just avoid spoilers until you play through those. They’ll explain everything.
Should I join a clan? (that too feels overwhelming)
Without a doubt yes. Join someone wit all or almost all research complete so you have access to dojo lab blueprints.
How important is crafting?
Once again, VERY important. Crafting is how you obtain shit without paying platinum.
What's your favorite thing(s) about warframe?
Definitely building weapons to be godly and the in game market. I like making plat an currently have about 6,850p in the bank from trading; 10,000+ if you include the money I’ve spent both on leisure and obtaining more capital.

It has PvP but it is largely focused on PvE, PvP is not that big. PvP also has it's own set of rules and gear works differen than in PvE. I don't think many players play PvP. No, you can play just fine without ever paying a cent. Just playing the game will probably be enough to get upgrades, gear and new frames. It has some story but it is not a big deal. Having a clan is a must, it gets you acces to some gear not obtainable otherwise. Crafting is a big part of the game. And I like it because it is a nice side game, pick up and play for an hour and then do something else, but you can still binge it once in a while.

So here's my questions: Is pvp worth playing and is it popular among the warframe community? Never played... How do I enjoy the game without having to deal with the micro transactions? How do I get new warframes and weapon without paying money for them? Most (normal warframes) drop from bosses or areas just Google what you want and youll be able to find out where to get it... Prime weapon/frame parts mostly drop from void fissures it tells you which ones drop what for example a lith era A2 void relic will drop valkyr prime blue print Lex prime barrel Forma blue print Akbronco prime link Akstielltp prime blue print Should I really pay attention to the story aspect of the game or should I just view it as multiple places to just go and kill hordes of enemies? Which ever you want Should I join a clan? (that too feels overwhelming) Yes being in a clan give you access to weapons and frames without needing to grind for the parts you can just buy them... How important is crafting? Very important you have to craft almost everything even if you buy weapons or frames (not with platinum) you need to make them... What's your favorite thing(s) about warframe? Its a big game with lots to do and collect with many different play styles... Its pay to win but you can get everything by just playing and overall the grind isnt bad... Its kinda like a diablo shooter...
