In D1 we had 4 raids over the course of 3 years. That’s 1 Raid every 9 months on average. The only time they released back-to-back raids in less than a 9 month window was VoG -> Crota’s End and that was a very short raid that felt rushed.
9/14 - VOG
12/14 - CE
9/15 - KF
9/16 - WOTM
Why are we expecting a full raid when they’ve historically taken 9 months each to make?
In D2, their goal is to release more content at more regular intervals. If we end up getting 3 smaller pieces of different raid content each 9-month cycle, how is that worse than the 1 Raid we had each 9-month cycle in D1?
The caveat is we will have to see how these smaller raids pan out. If they are just glorified strikes that will suck. But if they are somewhat meaty and have good mechanics, good drops, and memorable boss fights, that will be great.
The point of this post is that people are frankly being unreasonable with their expectations. We have never gotten full raids with each DLC. Why is that suddenly expected? I think smaller raids are better than NO raids. Someone explain how this is bad. Let’s withhold judgment until we play these mini-raids, yeah?

1 ReplyEdited by ArillatheMun: 11/18/2017 9:12:04 PMI look foward to it. After exploring the underbelly and such of leviathan I can that there is a lot of potential for expansion. I've read that they plan to release content "somewhat" in line with our seasons.... So roughly every 3 months. I'm absolutely fine with having a new section of the same raid every 3 months rather than wait almost a year for a full raid. People don't like change or difference. People don't see the concept they are going for. people are sheep. ^ these are the reasons for the hate on the "new raid" in the upcoming dlc. Who knows, that one section may be better than the entire current leviathan. See you Guardians later.

Because right now hating Bungie no matter what they say is fashionable. 80% of this community are sheep following the herd. Literally bashing Curse of Osiris after barely getting 1/3 of the info on what is going to be in it. Makes no sense at all, but nothing this community ever does, makes sense. We get more content, people complain, we don't get more content, people complain. No wonder Bungie ignored these forums and focuses on Reddit lol. People are crying that Bungie isnt listening to their complaints. Just a few weeks ago Bungie literally addressed the vast majority of the major complaints in the TWAB. People are too busy being dramatic to actually read shit and are still crying "Bungie is ignoring us!" This community is at its silliest most dramatic state that I've seen it since the "get rid of sbmm" days. Hell, it's more stupid here now then it was during the "this whole game is cut content, Bungie lied, here's proof from some anonymous ex-bungie employee that nobody has heard from since" days. I've been here since day 1 of d1 so I know the pattern. It'll be funny seeing these same people change their tune for a few weeks, than, like the adolescent dramatic hive-mind that is the majority of this community, they will be back to hating. Rinse and repeat. Meanwhile I'll just keep playing destiny when it's fun to me, and stop playing when it's not.

8 RepliesSimple math might have improved this post. "In D1 we had 4 raids over the course of 3 years. That’s 1 Raid every 9 months" Pretty sure 9/14 (VoG) until 9/16 (WoTM) is 2 years NOT 3 years. 4 full raids, different locations, different mechanics, different and Multiple bosses raids in 24 months. Not 36!! That's 1 full, fleshed out, complete raid every 6 months on average, using YOUR logic. I'm not speaking out against what your opinions are, you are entitled to them! As are everyone else's opinions. I DO have issues with people who deliberately create their own calculus in order to prove a point in their favor.

3 RepliesFlee you fool! Logic and reason has left this place. There is only outrage here!
-
3 RepliesAt this point, people are whining for the sake of whining.
-
Ye this game sucks
-
2 Replieswe already have small raids. they are strikes. wake up scrub.
-
2 RepliesI think the general consensus is they are not as good as a new raid. Im sure you and others will defend them by saying that's alot of work. I agree but that's what I and others expect when you make alot of money. Collectively Bungie has made hundred of millions of dollars off us so yea, make a new raid slackers.
-
2 RepliesI'm not a Raider, so I cannot explain why smaller more frequent raids is bad.
-
2 RepliesIt’s not a bad concept, but that’s it. It’s the execution that’s making a lot of people pessimistic about the idea. And this isn’t a belief made in a vacuum, but on Bungie’s own actions since the release of D2. People already have the impression that these mini-Raids will be half- baked, low effort expansions.

1 ReplyEdited by jcmgto: 11/17/2017 12:23:56 AMMy question is some are upset about this. The community complained about D1, and now D1 is so great. I lived D1 and put in some crazy hours into it. I am enjoying D2 just as much. So here is a little reminder, at this point in D1 we got the 1st DLC about the same time. At that time the "raid" was delayed. When it finally came out almost a month later IIRC, we got Crota. The "raid. If we all remember, Crota "raid" basically turned into a glorified strike. Crota was probably the easiest raid. At that time there were more solo's and it seemed every other day there was a new record time. So fast forward to now, Bungie learned not to call it a new "raid" but to say new "raid content. Also where everyone says it was cut content you could be correct, but it takes longer then 3 months to develop new content. So yes they were working on it prior to release, and that is why some can be included on the disc. And then a patch at launch completes it. But then, why should we realize that, let's just complain and say they cut the content and add some more salt. I personally am excited and plan to enjoy the new DLC and content.

8 RepliesHow much smaller? Crota's End small, a PoE final round small or a glorify lost sector small. How frequent? Define Bungie frequent. Once a week, once a month or once per 120 days. What are those additional content? New stages or new mechanics or just new modifiers. Bungie being vague as usual here, they speak in riddles and lead many people to imagine crowns and castles then remain silence. When time comes they finish the building it turn out just to be a regular house, then when players start complaining and leave with an unsatisfied feeling. Bungie and fanboys will come out and said something like "They never promise this or that", "They just said it was going to be just this" and "It was your fault for thinking you were going to get this or that, blame your self". Fanboy will be like we love the game, don't like it? Don't play and gtfo! Shut up and stop whining or learn how to give constructive feedback if you want Bungie to listen!!!! Entitle? Yes, because customer pay money for a product/service. Unreasonable expectation? So a player(customer) purchase new dlc(product) and expecting it to have new campaigns, new quests, new maps, new gears and new endgame contents consider unreasonable? Hmmm... Pay a store $20 for a novel and one would expect a few hundred pages worth of material for reading or pay upfront $20 but instead of a full book you just get 4 panel of comic strips deliver to you on every Sunday. Some might be easy to satisfy and easy to please while other might have higher expectation and more demanding but if a company putting in the least amount of effort but are charging the top price for a product then that is a problem. Bungie a AAA gaming company, one of the big leader in this industry had 3 years of trial and error, collecting data and feedback, brainstorming, assisting and funds. So there are no excuses for them or cutting them some slacks and letting them get away with a subpar product anymore. With that being said, me and some others that are branded "the Bungie haters" do not hate the people that work there. I don't hate the person that are getting order while trying to work around the clock and get their job done but we question the decision that are made at management level which cause the game to be in this current state. I do not hate the game but somehow disappointed because we see that Destiny had the potential to become a great game or even a masterpiece of this decade but being handle poorly and lost it soul by being turned it to a title that just aiming only for the cash from customer wallets. True that Activision may have a big say in this but Bungie at the management level also are responsible for how this situation being handle. I was amaze when I heard and saw the Destiny revealing at Bungie panel GDC 2013. If only today that (2013) caliber of ambition along with vision was crystallized and became the Destiny we are playing...

Great post and a lot of people in the comments get it as well.

Edited by Shamu: 11/18/2017 3:47:13 PMits funny really i agree with what you said but bungie will never make everyone happy, they go we miss this from D1 why was that removed from D1 they are adding what looks like an exotic from D1 into D2 and everyone loses there freaking minds going they arent being original they are copping out etc, TLDR people miss D1 and want it back if they added the whole of D1 to D2 as a dlc they would whine that bungie are just being lazy.

10 RepliesImagine having a "World Eater" with just the single raid to "explain" a piece of it. People would be up in arms around no more "lore" revolving around it, letting it be left behind and forgotten. I'll be playing it come the first week of December. 👊
-
It's probably not bad, but people pick any small detail to complain about. Half of the people who complain about this issue probably don't even raid anyway.
-
We know nothing about it other than that it’s shorter and that it’s there. Still, this community will take anything, and I mean anything, to complain about. Remember when, on the first week, it was apparently unplayable because of shaders?
-
Edited by Darth Zero0: 11/18/2017 8:36:40 AMI'd be glad to agree with you. There is plenty of room to grown on the Leviathan because it's a "world devourer". everyone was upset about HoW dlc not really having a raid and it turns out everyone came around to it
-
3 RepliesHow are you under the impression that these smaller raids will be more frequent when the Dlc timeline is the exact same as D1? How the -blam!- do you kids come up with this shit?
-
Because this Game sucks!
-
1 ReplySo what your saying is that its too early to get a new full raid after only three months? So why are they releasing an "expansion" now then?? Release the expansion when it has content worthy of calling it an expansion.
-
I am like the smaller more often raids idea. But I wish it was a vex raid . but I down for going back to the planet eater
-
Finally a decent post. While I’m not happy with the current state of D2, I thought 4 months was a bit rushed for another raid.

3 RepliesEdited by Durandal: 11/16/2017 7:47:59 PMMain issue: Rasputin has been built up through lore and most of the d1 dlc as to be extremely important to earths survival and the traveler remaining on earth instead of fleeing again. Having a small raid lair encounter on the leviathan tagged onto the dlc built around him/it is a lead-in for disappointment. If any one NPC deserves a full-fledged raid built around it, it's Rasputin and his role in the past few centuries worth of lore in the game universe. And it's not like there isn't enough to work with. They could put the raid on numerous places: earth, io, Mars and they would all make sense. Heck, they could even put a secret base floating just inside the atmosphere of Jupiter for a Rasputin raid. It could involve all kinds of scenarios, from finding out Rasputin is the progenitor of the vex, to finding and creating a centralized network for Rasputin from the broken remnants of all the other warminds who might be functioning on self preservation protocols only, to creating a super sized vex/exo hybrid framework to allow Rasputin to be mobile and a more involved entity in the game universe. Instead, we get a short raid lair encounter to cap off what honestly should be a taken king sized expansion. And even then, my early bets are on these raid lairs having little or nothing to do with the dlc story content as is.
