Like if Destiny 2 should never have been made, instead something completely different

1 ReplyI assumed D1's lack of depth/scale/variety was due to the limitations of last generation's consoles. I thought the news of D2 only being on current gen consoles and PC meant that Bungie was going to revamp everything, revise the formula and make content more meaningful, the world more vast, etc. Instead, they just use the same shallow tactics from D1, where they only give us a small handful of things to do, but then try to motivate us to repeat them 20 times a week with challenge modifiers. At least before, the RNG rewards were enough to make us all keep doing it, even though we cringed our way through it. Now that D2 gives out Exotics and Legendary items like candy, and there are no more god rolls, that shallow tactic doesn't cut it anymore. I just don't see that there was any real effort put into this "sequel" to evolve it in any meaningful way from its predecessor.

4 RepliesI disagree. D2 is a pretty decent game. Does it need improvements? Yes of course. Instead of posting useless feedback. Post something that can actually help improve this game. No need for childish ranting in feedback fourms.

1 ReplyIt's clear it wasn't made for people who played/loved D1. I usually don't pay attention to the characters dialogue but Ikora explaining to Ghost who the taken are is weird. It's almost like the first game never happened.

mmm, OP's post is op.... i think that this is what everyone is having troubles with, D2 being SO different from D1 that many players are left scratching their heads wondering what the hell happened. if D2 came through on the heels of D1, meaning that nothing from D1's last iterations were changed, and instead only added upon the foundation of what had been built over the past three years, there would be a lot more praise and amazement found on the forums. instead someone decided to try to flip the script and see how that played out... and we have this shit-show of confusion. i don't think that there is any bouncing back from this. according to popular opinion Bungie WOULD have to break down D2 and start again from scratch building upon the D1 algorithm to reinvent the build that we are fighting against #ilikepancakes

Its re-purposed DLC. The EDZ is re-purposed assets from D1 (shown in early footage) and there's a Vex area that looks like an unfinished area in D1 that people would glitch into (I can't remember what its called. I borrowed D2 and only played it once). I just remember seeing it and thinking "Well, they finally finished it at least". Apparently the live team on D1 and the D2 team weren't even aware of what the other was doing, judging by what D2 ended up being. Whatever this game was at its conception, whatever its potential was, it's gone. All it is now is a cash grab machine. Gouge the consumer as much as possible for for a product made with the least amount of effort.

I think in the beginning people thought Destiny was a game that was just going continue building on what was already there. Instead D2 went in a different direction removing a lot of things that were in D1. If they had just built upon what we had in ROI adding new characters, weapons, classes, subclasses, enemies, planets, and made a few minor tweaks it would have been preferably better.
