You could have just temporarily removed the emote instead of making everyone suffer.

"But... reasons... you see... we can't remove the emote... because people may have paid for it... and we weren't smart enough to include a TOS clause saying "Items from the eververse may be removed without notice for balance issues'... because we were too short sighted to think a cosmetic-shop would break the game... and we would be open to a lawsuit" ~The mind of Luke Smith Well, that's the only "Technical limitation" i can think of.

Trials is garbage best to just cancel it permanently
-
I'm sure there's more to it than that. But bungee definitely doesn't think it's something we need to know about. I'd be ashamed as well. That's why they're keeping it vague
-
Because it's just that easy. Boy I love amazing game developers like yourself. I'd like to hear of some of the titles you've created! List them to me!
its not that easy bud. If it was, don't you think they would have removed it already?
It was never just because of the emote, although they used that as a scapegoat for whatever reason. It's about the PC release. When trials begins again, all platforms will be in alignment with one another. All trials events on the same map, same time frame, same mode. Trials would have been postponed even without the emote ever being in the game. And i don't blame the team for that. It's easier to handle the event in such a way. But it is strange that they blamed it on the emote. If you think deeper into it, how could it possibly take a development team two weeks to fix an emote? No one in their right mind could fathom such a large amount of time for such a veteran team of developers. And how could Bungie possibly know it would take two weeks to fix? Could be an hour to fix, could be a week. But two weeks exactly? They can't predict that. The patch to the emote is probably already finished, just waiting to be deployed. Another thing, all flawless trials items had already been offered so..makes sense. And when trials begins again, it'll be countdown on eternity. Just to emulate the initial launch of trials. It's all about the PC release.

Or, maybe, they never anticipated needing to remove emotes, and can't. Or, maybe, the emotes tipped them off to larger issues that couldn't be fixed simply. You never, ever say "couldn't you just..." when talking about programming, because 99% of the time you can't.
-
Damn. I was planning on hiking today. Sad to see the trails closed.
-
Yeah, let's see you do that Mr. Video Game Dev...
-
Better to have that emote in the game than have Trials in the game...
-
I’d like to blame bungie, but I must also direct attention to the people who will cheat. I know people would, as they always do, abuse the shit out of it. Too many people cheat in this game for no reason. It’s their fault.
-
Hey least they didnt pull a DE and perma ban those with said emote.
-
Oregon?
-
This is so stupid, for the first time i actually had a good team and was finally going to try to get flawless or at least 1 win. But nooooo, "lets remove the trials because some players have a buggy emote" Should just remove that emote instead of ruining the game even more...
-
Awe the eletists, elo farmers, sweats and try hards won't be able to play trials? That sounds terrible.
-
So they're nerfing emotes now?!?!? Will this madness never end???
-
People would complain anyway.
-
But that would be the simple thing to do.
-
Or they could fix the map collision issues, which is why the emote did that in the first place.....
-
Or they could ban the cheaters
-
But temporarily disabling rhe emote would take something out of the RNG loot box system! Activision and Bungie certainly can't have that!
Sarcasm for the 2 of you who don't see it.
-
What happened?
-
The fact that it takes 2 weeks to repair trials says enough about the mess bungie is at the moment
-
I don’t understand how this would have effected trials in the first place. It is by no means game breaking, and I have yet to see anyone use it in a match. It just basically comes down to Bungie being lazy. If someone is using an exploit to cheat, they should be banned. Period. But again, this particular issue wouldn’t have effected trials anyway.
-
Trials isn’t that hard to spell. Why do so many people keep getting it wrong? And loose instead of lose.
-
Temporarily force me to walk normally?! I think not.
-
thats not how it works, they still would have delayed it even to get rid of emotes. but i do think they should have fixed it a while back or if lucky at launch
