It feels like a repeat of Vanilla D1....because it IS a vanilla game. You're upset because you came in with the (unreasonable) expectation that this was "Destiny 1.5" and would be Year 4 of Destiny (1). When the reality is that this game had HALF of its core systems redesigned...and is YEAR ONE of Destiny 2. And you are one of many EXTERNALLY MOTIVATED gamers who are frustrated with the game. Because Bungie removed the status symbols and the "trophies" from the game.

  • If I was playing a game, I'd expect the sequel to build upon the original + DLC, not just the base game.

  • Destiny 2 has more activities than all three years of Destiny 1. People are just being unreasonable. Because they are only thinking "I want!!" And not giving any thought to what might be necessary to deliver those things. Grass doesn't grow any faster just because you stomp your feet and insist that it should.

  • No, it really doesn't. Destiny 2 has crucible playlists, 2. Destiny 1 has Private Matches, 5 playlists that are a gamemode exclusive, with one rotating playlist. Destiny 2 has one strike playlist Destiny 1 has 4 Playlists, and the ability to choose your own strike without being confined to RNG Story in Destiny 1 has 43 missions, 43! Story in Destiny 2 has 16, and some uncanny side missions that don't have a huge change. Destiny 2 has 1 Raid, no horde mode Destiny 1 has 4 raids, Vex, Fallen, and Hive, with a horde mode. Destiny 2 has no real patrol missions after adventures besides the beacons Destiny 1 has no actual adventures, but has Court of Oryx and Archon's Forge, both playable for end-game loot in their respective DLC If it makes your jimmies rustle so much, I have an opinion, you have yours. I believe Bungie completely half-assed Destiny 2, you think otherwise, cool.

  • No, sequels take what the first game did, and expand upon it. I expect Halo 3 to have more content than Halo 2, and it did. I expect Halo 5 to have more content than Halo 4, and (Overtime, albeit free), it did. Destiny 2 has less content than it's predecessor. How does that make sensem

Not really Story is not replayable, and is cliché as well. Less missions too Customization on characters is still shit, and our character doesn't speak when voice actors/actresses are in the credits Grimoire is completely absent Strikes are playlist-exclusive Raid is more "Prison of Elders" than actual raid, and next-to-no loot drops Vendors aren't vendors Crucible is playlist exclusive and specific modes are unselectable Fixed Rolls And gambling is how we get gear. What was in Destiny 1? A story that is replayable, even if it's subpar Grimoire to expand the lore (Half of it is uncanon after the darkness and stranger were made obsolete) A raid that is fun, and replayable without having to feel like a grind Crucible playlists that are selectable, and being able to kill without ganging on people Vendors that sell gear, and are rewarding Weapon Rolls to allow more customization Iron Banner sold gear Queen's Wrath had legendary armor Game was in it's arguably best state Destiny 2 additions: Trials in Vanilla 1 additional strike 1 subclass that's new, replacing 1 subclass we had. Lore Tabs 4v4 PVP, more focus on competitive while being a casual game (How?) Removing 3 planets, adding 3 planetoids (Nessus: Centaur, Titan: Moon, Io: Moon), and removing the Cosmodrome for the EDZ And lastly, Tokens. Slot Machine fuel Edit: Also, comparing D1 Vanilla to D2 Vanilla is just plain stupidity, and if we wanna argue that, why is infusion in the game, clans, etc. When that was all DLC stuff? Why are all the QOL changes made in Rise of Iron not transferred over? Why can't we play whatever we want?

  • try again. -Lost Sectors -Location Quests -Location Vendors -Trials -1 subclass -12 daily location Challenges (replacing the 5 daily pve bounties) -3 weekly story missions that are replay-able on alt. characters and still reward tokens. -Flashpoint/Call to Arms Challenges -clan features

Tokens??? Location Quests are decent, I'll give that, but aren't anything special Vendors are, again, Slot Machines Trials I mentioned, try again I mentioned the subclass debacle Flashpoints for 2 random pieces of gear, that you'll better love getting dupes of, because -blam!- smart loot Not selectable on missions, Bungie chooses what you get to play weekly and you'd better like it, because that's your choices Call to Arms is just a rehash to make you play crucible, and is a gatelock that is unneeded to play trials. Clan features aren't really special. And a random token for a reward isn't special. Sure, trials gear and raid gear is great and all, but everything else is pointless. If it is really an issue, I have an opinion, you have yours.

Not really, I just listed what D1 had more of If you're gonna refuse that, there's no point arguing.

You're confusing your opinions about the content for the existence of content. Destiny 2 has more things to do than vanilla D1, and arguably all of D1. Statement of fact. Whether or not you like those things is a separate discussion. Especially when the things your complaining about are really about not liking the changes to the loot system and game economy. That's not a content issue.

  • I just listed all the content that was playable in Destiny 1 (At least major content) and the content in Destiny 2. Destiny 1 has almost triple that amount. This conversation is headed nowhere if you're gonna deny that, so I'm not even gonna try. You do you man, just know that Destiny 1 has more shit than Destiny 2, that's fact.

  • No...it doesn't...and no you didn't. Its going nowhere because you're presenting personal preference arguments as if they were facts.

  • I wouldn’t even try to discuss this issue with some of these people because clearly they missed the whole point of what the Destiny universe was supposed to by Bungie’s own words in the past. This franchise was supposed to break the mold, to be a shakeup of the traditional FPS, and most importantly be a universe that has continuity and keeps expanding. There should be no “sequels” in this universe, it should all be expansions to what has previously been established and built. If you compare Vanilla D1 to “Vanilla D2” then clearly this entire concept has been lost on some people. Apparently, it has been lost on Bungie too with their “management shakeups.” They haven’t offered anything this universe was supposed to be and seem content to make massive changes to non-existent problems while ditching all the progress they made over the past 3 years. I don’t even know how to fathom how this is the same people that made all these improvements to only ditch it all for some version of a game that seems to have a sudden identity crisis and is just becoming another watered down boring looter shooter with a focus on squeezing as much money as possible. I don’t need anyone to tell me how to play or what is good because it’s all subjective, though Bungie certainly has been the biggest offender of the former. Hey, I enjoyed it while it lasted but it seems Dead Orbit was right, we need to leave this dying universe. It was all a big dream I guess. Sad because I really had hope for this franchise. Time (and money) will determine if Bungie made the right decisions. For me, the decisions are not only questionable but downright baffling at times.

  • 1. This isn't World of Warcraft. 2. Where did Bungie ever agree to make the game of YOUR imagination? 3. I'm in no position to tell you what is a good game to you (and vice versa). But I AM in a position to tell you that you're talking about a game that was a FAILURE...and part of the reason why Bungie HAD the management shake up that it did. At the end of the Age of Triumph Destiny 1 was a game that was sitting atop an engine optimized for one obsolete platform (XB360) ....and another one NOTORIOUSLY difficult to make content for (PS3). With a networking scheme that simply couldnt' handle the demand placed upon it. ...and PVP that was a broken, and unbalanced mess. Such an broken and unbalanced mess that I stopped playing it, so that my frustration with it wouldn't POISON my feelings about the rest of the game. It was a dream....but its a dream that the market rejected....and the technology in 2014 couldn't support. Destiny 1 tried to give us World of Warcraft with GUNS...and they market said.. "Thanks, but no. You can keep that game. We're going to go over to Skywatch....shoot into the Loot Cave...and negatively compare your game to Diablo 3." Which is all about sequels by the way. Diablo 4 is supposed to be in development.

  • Status symbols and trophies are loot. There is nothing loot wise that drops for endgame that you can't get from doing a public event or turning in marks.....so y play a games endgame content in a game BUILT around loot when you don't get rewarded for it? Would you play the hardest thing in Diablo if there nO drop for it?
