Not really... I know some were really good but most people just used rockets or Ghorn rather. Moving snipers and shotgun to heavy is a necessity. Those weapons ruined PVP. Made PVE easy mode and all the boss encounter are just DPS as fast as you can. I think if they buff the dmg output on crits, snipers will see a huge comeback. Or bring back black hammer style snipes. Shotty is still strong for single DPS...hawthorne's shotty rips through yellows and dogs. Merciless also work wonders. At least there's diversity now eh? Instead of just primary, shotty/snipe, machine gun/rockets.

What?! People who thought rockets gave them a "sure kill" used rockets. On average, with a rocket launcher you could get 2-3 kills. If you got really, really lucky, a team grouped together and you'd get multi-kills. But that wasn't very often. If you ran with a high-capacity HMG, paired with heavy ammo boots, you could run around for the rest of the match getting kills, if you were conservative. With something like Thunderlord, you could easily get 7-10 kills, depending on how well you shot, before you were out of ammo. Most people knew that. I saw a ton of HMGs in the crucible. I was one that always used a HMG. After heavy drops, you just kinda chill, until you don't hear rockets going off anymore, then just run around going to town on everyone who used up their heavy. This is actually why I think they got rid of them.

  • I know what you mean... but ttk was so fast at many stages of the game, it made heavy machine gun useless bc you can get out shot by primaries and you used rockets to get sure kills. For example, TLW and Thorn phase... heavy machine gun didn't stand much chance... You would only enjoy running around w/ the machine gun the whole game against a pretty bad team. If you're strictly talking Year 3, then yeah.

  • "Already there is diversity now" are you serious? Two primaries is not diversity in any way.

  • Diversity as in people using different loadouts for different situations...yeah dead serious. D1: use primary, sniper/shotty, rockets/machine gune... That's it. 5 weapons and those weapons can be named depending on the DLC and year. D2: You can use essentially any primaries you'd like...auto and scout being the most common. Heavy can be rockets, swords, shotty, mericiless etc.

  • Then use a sidearm or smg in your loadout.

  • So we're seeing PvP ruin PvE again. I thought Destiny was supposed to be PvE focused with PvP being there because that the industry standard at this point. Also, isn't that the point of DPS phases on raid battles, deal the most amount of damage as possible in each phase?

  • Industry standard? What industry standard? There's a whole industry of looter shooter games? Raid, depending on the game, typically has phases where consistently dps then there's burst phases where you output high dmg to finish the boss at vulnerable points. What we had in D1 = burst dps all the time. Synth of course didn't help. Bosses just became more and more spongy. Remember how the burns were tough at the beginning and then became a joke bc everything dies so quick?

  • The new diversity is scout, AR, rockets

  • Diversity????? MIDA and Uriel’s gift for 90% of PVP loadouts. Not really diverse if you ask me

  •
Moving snipers and shotgun to heavy is a necessity. Those weapons ruined PVP. Made PVE easy mode and all the boss encounter are just DPS as fast as you can.
Pve is already easy. It’s just slower now. That’s less fun. More bullet sponge encounters that just drag on. At least with rockets/machine guns and snipers/shotguns, we felt godlike at times.

  • I wonder how leviathan raid would go with a D1 load out? Pre TTK load out TTK load out ROI load out Personally, I think it would be Super easy with a scout + fusion + hmg

  • I agree, but this raid is pretty weak in general.

  • I don't know what you talking, about for me it feels the same speed if not a little bit faster. I just miss the heavy machine guns for the fact that they were fun to use.
