Hardlight is a gun that boasts all-around amazing stats, but sports a rather nasty fix to keep it from being too OP. The weapon's camera shake, while normally being a good way to balance a powerful weapon, actually renders HardLight nearly useless in any form of competitive play. Here's the main issues:
HardLight is the ultimate spray-and-pray weapon-
While some (mostly former The Last Word users) say that randomly firing long-range shots is a great way to guarantee some damage, it does take away alot of the skill-floor from the weapon. The camera shake is so bad that even at close range it can be hard to land precision hits in PVP, and good luck making the no-damage-falloff really count because those bullets have more spread than a shotgun. HardLight's stability should be hampered, as opposed to its accuracy, OR its shots should have a larger hitbox to at least guarantee some more damage at long ranges
EDIT: I thought Hard Light still had its max stability stat when i made this initial suggestion. Knowing better now, i suggest that Hard Light should have its camera-shake removed. In its place, the gap between body and precision damage for the weapon should be greatly increased, which would force the wielder to aim for the head.
HardLight's additional perks arent very useful-
Bouncing shots look absolutely amazing, even in D1 when the graphics werent nearly as good. The issue with them is that they are way too unpredictable. Of course you can make the argument that it'd be weird for ricochetted rounds to home in on nearby enemies, and you'd be right. Alternatively, i have this idea: HardLight's bullets should double in damage for every surface they bounce off of before they hit something. This would keep the luck-requirement of bouncing shots, but make their effect alot more potent
The elemental switching is cumbersome-
I know what gun you guys normally think of when you picture elemental utility: the Borealis. The reload-switch, while cumbersome at times, is waaaaay faster than changing it in the menu in the middle of a fight. Because i dont want HardLight to just copy Borealis's perk, i have another idea of how to trigger element switching: HardLight should copy the element of whatever shield it's enemy has, or what subclass the enemy has if in PVP. This would mean HardLight is one of the best weapons for detonating shields, but isnt able to take advantage of the Nightfall Prism modifier as easily as Borealis. It would also add some flavor to PVP because your shots would constantly change color depending on who they hit.
Shots changing color by subclass in PVP is also a great idea because it would allow you to know what the enemy's subclasses are ahead of time and plan accordingly

The one exotic they won't reward me with... But I've gotten 8 cold hearts and 9 gravitron lances o_o

I don’t understand this shaking you guys are talking about? The problem is that the weapons stats boast high ass stability when in reality it’s stability is shit that’s why it’s recoil is terrible so they need to make the actual stability what the weapon’s stat shows. Not this shaking shit you guys are talking about.

The camera shake is the only thing that needs to go. But Bungie refuses to do it. I think they're afraid it would become overpowered if they did.

Make it do true damage. 17 to body and head in crucible, keep it's stability as is. Pretty good weapon then. True damage meaning it always does the same damage regardless of where the enemy is shot.

Wrong, it needs more range. Nobody will use it over uriels unless it has like 50 range.

Hardlight isnt bad aym the stjrm handcannon on the othethand is useless.

Can we please apply this logic to ricochet rounds? I already am getting really good at attacking campers from full cover with antiope-d lol!
