I am both confused and frustrated trying to understand the Raid loot system.

This is coming from the perspective of someone who has not yet defeated Calus. So there's tokens, keys and encounter chest rewards ... now correct me if I'm wrong, it works like this. 1) End encounter chest, chance to reward raid gear, but not guaranteed. If you don't get gear, you have a chance at an underbelly key, and if you don't get a key, you will always get tokens. 2) If you get a key, you have to enter the underbelly and find the apropriate zone, kill the watchers before they alert enemies, and then open the chest in that zone. You have a chance at a piece of gear from that chest, otherwise you get tokens once again. 3) If you don't get gear from either the encounter chest, or the underbelly chest, then you will have received tokens, but can't use them until you defeat Calus and activate the tower bot to cash them in. Is that all correct?

  • Not only is what you stated correct, but even once you do beat him and unlock the vendor for the tokens - it gives you weapons and armor BELOW your light level just like any other vendor. How's that for raid loot? You can go do public events and get better loot than from the raid.

    • First destiny raid I didn't bother with. Just lfg'd calus for the quest nothing more. The shotgun sucks so bad anyway. Go figure. The raid is just awful idk why they had to change what three years of progress made. Sorry man and good luck

        • Basically it's like this. Every chest looted from the encounter fights will have a couple quarters and shaders, with a "chance" of a raid item or an underbelly key. The raid weapons are mediocre at best, seriously look at Scathelocke and Ghost P side by side, it's pretty sad. The raid armor (all armor in this game really) is basically like playing fashion souls. Its all the exact same and offers no edge or added survivability to the related activity in any way. So raid chest piece = same crucible chest piece aside from cosmetics. So if you get dicked and key an underbelly key, you get to hike across a -blam!-ing labyrinth and do the watcher thing. Then you get to open another chest with more quarters or shaders, or a legendary and/or exotic engram. However that legendary engram you got from that raid chest is probably a vanguard item you can get literally anywhere else and is definitely not a raid item. But there is hope! You've probably got enough quarters to stuff up Benedict's ass, so here's your roll at a raid item! Oh but the catch is that shit is dropping under your power level. So yea, Destiny GOTY for sure.

        • The keys suck.. you have to go back into the raid, at random locations under the palace (the sewers is what it looked like to me.) to find the box, kill everything standing in your way or sneak past the security bots, and it might only give you a shader. These are my observations after watching my husband playing the raid. He had to go back in alone to get to the chests to open them and at least twice he only found a shader in the box after all the trouble of getting to it.

        • The old raids you get gear as you progress. Here you have finish it to get anything. I don’t play it.the only thing I would want is the rocket. The rest are crap

        • Yes calus is not the end of the raid The underbelly is if you don't complete that you don't get all of the possible loot drops Like the maze after golgoroth where you had to go on the plates which no one did they expanded that type of activity into the raid There were raid puzzles in wotm but those were in line with the raid
