I did watch the anime on YT, but not the movie. I was confused on who some people were, but I still loved it all. This was also my first FF game. The Gladiolus DLC isn't really needed, but you do get a cool heavy sword for the main game. The Prompto DLC is needed for some back story. It is also a decent length at around 2-3 hours for only $5. It really mixes of the gameplay so it doesn't feel like the main game. You also get a really good gun and some new clothing for Prompto that doesn't have bad stats either.
I really recommend playing it agin, especially if you never finished it. It gets better after the half way mark when it gets more linear.

Driving around now is way more fun, since they added a sort of monster truck version of the car that can drive anywhere.

Now that does sound fun
Yeah. The open world seemed kind of lame, considering the driving was terrible. So should I watch the anime or the movie first?
It doesn't really matter. The anime just kind of shows the beginning of the road trip. And the movie shows how insomnia fell. But they put in a patch to show pieces of the movie.

You're very wrong about the anime. It shows how noctis met everyone.
