Destiny 2 is Bad - A Long Post From a Long Time Veteran Player

**This is a sub account that I started for D2. My main account psn is Kyllap. For those wondering. I've been doing some thinking on this whole playing through Destiny 2, and I have to admit that I don't like this game. I feel that it is a shell of what we had with TTK and RoI, up until the last stretch of D1. Let me say that I have played through D2 on 2 characters (both solo and with a team), I have a large clan, I've done all the activities in the game (including flawless trials and the raid), every strike, etc etc. I'm not 'salty' about this or that. I simply think this game isn't what I thought it was and I am hugely disappointed. Let me list some things I don't like and describe why I don't like them. - 4v4 Crucible. When this was announced I thought, 'eh whatever. It'll be interesting and fun.' And it was fun...for a week. And then I started to miss having 6 people in chat in a fireteam dropping supers and capping zones and talking shit. With this 4v4 only, there are only...4 players....lol... It's just a shell of what it was. Just team shooting. Sure you can pull off some plays here and there, but in the end it's just bad. - Enhanced Aim Assist. Is there any skill left in Destiny? Does it even require skill? Take your crosshairs and hover over an enemy and watch what happened when another enemy crosses your path... The gun literally follows them for feet. Yes there was AA in D1, but this feels like Skylanders. - Actual Content. This has been an issue in Destiny since Destiny was Destiny. And it's STILL an issue. The story spans four planets, but is bland and forgettable. The missions don't scale in difficulty with a fireteam so you just blow right through them. I had to play it again solo just to somewhat enjoy it. Which is laughable in a game that promotes group play and clans and teamwork. Then once you get it done there is zero reason to do Lost Sectors and Adventures unless you care about story simply for the story. Which would be ok, but again there are zero rewards. Why wouldn't they incorporate every single one of these side things into quests, or into the story line? In fact where is the quest tab at all?? Nowhere. Because there are like 4 total quests to give you a MIDA and some other bullshit you'll never use. A MIDA?? From year 1 of Destiny?? Jesus man. I don't get it. - Subclasses. The same three. I need not say more. - Trials of MIDA Multi Tool..... Let me say that I actually enjoy 4v4 Trials. I like the Nine concept and I do think the gear and weapons look cool. I even like the horse at the end. What I HATE is that Bungie has created a meta of multi tools in ONE WEEK. If you use anything other than a MIDA and a Uriel's you're out gunned. So everyone uses that and that's it. In one week. And now the endless 'balance' patches begin which will send you on a goose chase for weapons you dismantled long ago because they sucked ass but now they're op! Same old bullshit. - Graphics. Can you believe this?! I'm complaining about the graphics in Destiny. But I'm not talking about the world designs, particle effects, or skyboxes. No. I'm referring to character models, armor, and shaders. They all look like garbage. Not because the design is bad, but because they have sacrificed character detail to enhance the world. And while I liked it at first, after a while you just want your guardian to look cool, right? But in no way is the same appeal there that D1 had. Everything aside from like 4 shaders looks bland and boring. Emotes are all boring and recycled. The rendering of our guardians is jus bland and honestly kinda fuzzy. - The Raid. To absolute HELL with this raid. It's worse than Kings Fall. I actually enjoyed KF with a good team. But this. This is garbage. Far too many annoying mechanics. Too involved engagements. Checkpoints which need to be obtained again??! Yes I know that opening the door is easy but why must I do that every time or walk some stupid maze? This raid has no replay ability factor for me. I have lead and guided many players through D1 raids many times. I loved it. This raid makes me want to trade in the game. I hate it. The end. *- Thought I would add that running out of ammo DURING a firefight is absolutely ridiculous. And it happens so frequently. I've said on several occasions to my team that I'm just out of ammo.... I will end with this: Bungie told everyone on stage that they wanted to unlock the fun of Destiny. They wanted to make it accessible to a larger audience. They wanted people to experience the raids. Well I can tell you for sure that no one is in the slightest interested in using Guided Games for this raid, or anything like it. I wouldn't even use GG for this week's Nightfall, which is again super annoying and damn near impossible for a majority of players. It's the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. Let's make a super casual game and then throw The Leviathan at everyone along with a NF like this.... Gooood job Bungie. Ok I'm done.

  • The story/campaign annoyed me. They suggested that it was going to be epically long... Hmmm, don't think so! I'm not a PvP player, I love PvE, but it stopped way short of wanting to dive in again and again! :-(

        • "They wanted to make it accessible to a larger audience. " This is where the problem lies. "Accessible" is a code word for "low-thought" Like the raid, for instance. The strategy is quite simple and straightforward, the problem is in the flawless execution required to complete it. With a big game like destiny, it takes a lot of money to develop. Eventually you say you want a bigger audience and hit a fork in the road: Path 1: Simplify the game, development cost goes down Path 2: Add more activities for a wider audience, development cost goes up and release gets pushed back. From a player-perspective, path 2 is the way to go, options are always better, and we want awesome games. From the investor perspective (for a box-sale mmo, no subscription revenue) the goal is maximizing box sales, and you couldn't care less about player retention between expansions.

        • Great post. I fully agree. This game is a shell of what the first was. D1 evolved into a really great game. D2 should have at least started off at that caliber and to me, it's actually started off worse than D1. D1 had less content but had replay value. D2 has more content with pretty much little to no replay value. There's "more to do" but no reason to do it. Oh well, it was a fun 2 weeks I suppose Haha

          • This post hits so much, but still misses so much more that is just overwhelmingly disappointing about D2. They stripped away what made D1 so much fun.

          • I wouldn't say it's bad, but I think it should be better than it is. Destiny 2 has slightly more content than the Taken King DLC. On top of that, the game has a lot of questionable issues that I hope are addressed before the first DLC comes out. When I picked up my preorder, they asked me if I wanted the season pass and I declined, because of some questionable choices Bungie made at the end of Destiny 1, I wanted to wait and see if everything in Destiny 2 was on the up and up. If things don't change or get worse, I'm afraid I won't buy the DLC and that will be the end of my Destiny adventure.

              • People said kings fall was the worst raid, then they said wotm was the worst, and now they are saying they hate the leviathan. The patterns just keep going on and on, probably from fresh salt. Everyone seems to forget the glitchball garbage that is crotas end and immediately calls everything the worst raid, like i bet that if vog was released in d2 and not d1 people would say its the worst. At least give the leviathan the hard mode chance before you begin rating it. Currently i think right now that its got some solid story telling and some pretty fun areas, like the garden (salty people say its bad) . Heres my list of raids ranked (excluding leviathan until hardmode) 4. Crotas end: extremely glitchy and easy, felt like a strike, only had one enemy that really felt like a boss. Entrance activity was the only fun and challenging part that captured the hive's horde feel. Has some good weapons and overall cool looking armor. 3-2. Vog: extremely well done difficulty that hit the sweet spot. Had a fun relic and it was possible to carry lower light people through. Tons of opportunity for replayability, but it had some areas that could be cheesed, and it took a long time to complete. My main problem was it wasn't cinematic enough, and just felt a little bland in the design. The 1st boss was just an enlarged hydra and atheon didnt stray to far from the vex formula, as well as the bland scenery. While it had very good weapons, it had very low drop rates that caused many to drop destiny. The reason its rated at 3-2 is because its very close in rating to the next raid, and it really just depends on what you as an individual looks for in a raid. 2-3. Kings fall: This raid is by far the most cinematic and artistic raid to date. All scenery, weapons, armor, and bosses were all had great art design, and it featured some the best, most badass music that completely fit the theme. Had the best raid exotic in that it helped in the actual completion of the raid. The greatest appeal for this raid was that it felt badass and felt very rewarding after every boss fight although the sisters werent very interesting. Also this raid had lots of boss fights which all felt unique. Where this raid failed was in replayability, and mechanics. Kings fall had way to many mechanics to it which ended up meaning that if 1 person failed it was wipe. Kings fall also had a slow paced "stand on a plate and shoot stuff" fetish which it featured in nearly every encounter. Where vog succeeded, kings fall failed. I feel that kings fall was better than vog if you have a good team. 1. Wotm: wotm was definently bungee showing that they were listening to the players. It was fast paced, unique, rewarding, cinematic, and well designed. Wotm felt like a direct response to kings falls slow pacing. Had the perfect mix of gameplay mechanics and pacing. A highlight of the raid is death trolley and aksis p2. The only area i felt was bad with wotm was the difficulty was intense with vosik, then toned down with death trolley and aksis p1 and then back up with aksis p2. Had a very unique challenge to get the raid weapon also. So far i think the leviathan is leaning in the mechanic heavy kings fall direction so far, but we still need to see hardmode and just keep playing until we make a decision.

I mean, where's the chase? The hunt for the great gear? There is literally nothing. D1 kept people going because the story was bad but people still wanted answers and for the loot. Within 2 weeks you pretty much have everything! I mean... How is a loot-based game meant to survive with nothing to grind for? Did they forget the most basic thing that made D1 great?
